Job Description:
As part of the COMPASS: Sweet Success Center team, the Director of Student Accessibility Services oversees and manages daily operations of services and programs administered by the Office of Accessibility Services. These services enhance the student experience with a specific focus on both the support and retention of students with disabilities and compliance with federal regulations. The Director of Student Accessibility Services ensures that students with disabilities have equal access to participate in and benefit from all curricular and co-curricular programs and services at Wittenberg University and coordinates the accommodated testing program. This position also works to educate faculty, staff, students, and families on Accessibility Services in Higher Education, including critical information on the transition from high school to college. This is a full-time, exempt-level position, reporting to the Senior Director of Academic Services and Student Success.
Essential duties include but are not limited to:
- Oversee and manage the daily operations of services and programs administered by the Office of Accessibility Services, including coordinating and providing academic and housing accommodations, coordinating and implementing temporary accommodations due to circumstances such as illness or injury, exam services, note taking services, faculty training and consultation, conversion of academic materials to alternate formats, and providing assistive technology to qualified students.

Review documentation and participates in an interactive process with students to evaluate for appropriate academic and housing accommodations according to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Fair Housing Act guidelines. Facilitates implementation of accommodations.

Draft rules and procedures to remain compliant with state and federal regulations and statutes related to persons with disabilities.

Conduct strategic planning and assessment of services provided to ensure quality and effectiveness, including recommendations for materials/equipment required to meet student needs.

Meet with prospective students, current students, and family members to consult, review documentation, and discuss eligibility for accommodations.

Serve on University committees and participates in special projects.

Aid in the management and intervention of critical University processes including: mid-term grade reports, early alerts, registration, account holds, part-time status, athletic eligibility, and undeclared majors.

Serve as a Success Coach providing psychosocial, academic, professional, and life skills support to a designated student case-load identified through several referral and intervention processes.
Additional Responsibilities
- Provide training, workshops, and other learning opportunities to faculty, staff, and students to raise awareness around stigma and unconscious bias towards students with disabilities.

Provides support and technical assistance for faculty and staff on the provision of appropriate and reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities.

Ensure appropriate processes are in place to provide for the prompt and equitable resolution of complaints and inquiries.

Ensure that complaints and grievances related to the rights of individuals with disabilities are handled appropriately and other relevant offices and stakeholders are included in the discussions.

Participate in professional organizations and professional development activities in order to maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practice.

Ensure that Accessibility Services website is up to date.

Perform other relevant duties as assigned such as special projects, programs, developmental activities, etc.
Requirements:
- A Master's degree is required.

At least three to five years of experience required.

Training, certifications, and demonstrated knowledge of best practices in higher education preferred.

Experience and/or certifications in crisis and mental health management preferred.

Knowledge of American Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504, Fair Housing Act, and other federal and state laws required.

Ability to interpret standard psychological assessments and diagnostic methods for use in determining accommodations.

Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work evenings and weekends may be required.

Competency and experience using Microsoft Office software with the ability and desire to learn additional software applications as necessary.

Be able to remain in a stationary position for the majority of the work day (up to 8 hours).

Position requires on-campus, face-to-face interactions and maintaining a regular schedule of attendance on-campus and in the workplace.
