Bakery Manager Job Responsibilities:
The Bakery Manager spearheads the store’s bakery operations meeting both production and finishing, as well as meeting quality requirements. Acts as leader of the bakery managing workforce, scheduling, and delegating responsibilities in a clear, consistent, and fair manner while maintaining people focus with our core values in mind.
• Oversee bakery personnel including: discipline, evaluation, promotion, and termination of all Bakery Department personnel.
• Orient and train all new Bakery Department employees and retrain employees when necessary.
• Develop a weekly labor schedule for all Bakery Department employees for the approval of the store manager.
• Manage product on sales floor: evaluate, stock and place product rotating for freshness.
• Allocate shelf space according to sales, capacity, and profitability.
• Supervise/order, all bakery products and supplies from authorized vendors to minimize out-of-stocks while maintaining the desired bakery turns.
• Greet customers, respond to customer questions, requests, and complaints explaining store policies in a courteous manner.
• Ensure all county, state and federal health regulations and codes are met and train employees. Responsible for overall cleanliness of the department including equipment, floors, case, production area.
• Supervise: 1) unloading of trucks; 2) checking the load for quality/shortage/overage and code dating the case; 3) storage of back stock; 4) verification of the merchandise against the invoice.
• Perform miscellaneous tasks assigned by the store manager, substituting for absent workers and performing any additional tasks necessary to provide products and services to customers during peak periods of business.
• Oversee safety procedures used in the operation of the baler, case cutter, pallet jack, knife, intercom, pricing gun, fryer, ovens, proofer, and scales (must be 18 years or older to operate some equipment).
• Manage inventory and complete inventory reporting on a bi-monthly basis.
• Supervise the use of proper case opening and proper merchandising.
• Communicate and make recommendations with the store manager to improve operations and sales of the store.
