Cashier / Grocery Stocker Responsibilities
To be successful as a cashiers / grocery stocker, a person should be efficient and detail-oriented with a focus on customer satisfaction. You should be organized, decisive, attentive, and possess a strong understanding of customer service.
- Greet all customers, respond to customer questions/requests and explain store policies in a courteous manner.
- Provide customer service by smiling, greeting and thanking all customers.
- Process customer purchases quickly and accurately.
- Prevent loss of money and merchandise through removal of bottom-of-cart items, careful product handling, completion of price checks or not-on-file or mis-marked items, correct identification of produce, counting of money, and accurately using store procedures for the acceptance of coupons and checks.
- Prepare the back room for receipt of merchandise, unload trucks and sort cases according to aisle or pallet for stocking.
- Clean store floors, check-lanes, carts, restrooms, parking lot and shelves. Safely use cleaning equipment and chemicals.
- Load stocking carts/pallets, transport cases to sales floor either on stocking carts or pallets, match the case strip to the shelf tag/stock, place merchandise in the designated shelf/display position/area and "face/front" the front row of each display.
- To assure the safety of self, customers and co-workers by understanding and practicing store safety rules and notifying a supervisor of any potential hazard immediately. Pick up/remove all broken containers, packing materials/boxes from the sales floor or customers’ pathway immediately.
- Perform miscellaneous tasks assigned by supervisors and managers, substituting for absent workers and performing any additional tasks necessary to provide products and services to customers during peak periods of business.
