Overview:
Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine is seeking a Resident Affairs Coordinator. Responsible for providing a full range of administrative assistance to the Director of Resident Affairs in completion of departmental duties and responsibilities in the graduate medical education programs.
Responsibilities:
  • Supports and assists Director of Resident Affairs with institutional level GME duties
  • Attend training on and work with the following programs:
    • New Innovations Residency Management System
    • Paper Vision for alumni documents
  • Assists with residency/fellowship program oversight
  • Assists with resident/fellow onboarding
  • Assists with resident/fellow orientation coordination
  • Room scheduling and placing food orders for resident and department events
  • Assist with the monthly GMEC meetings, Program Director’s meetings, Chief Resident Committee meetings
  • Assist with Program Coordinator meetings
  • Assists with resident/fellow graduation ceremony and reception
  • Assists with resident/fellow AMA-IPM general competency module set-up
  • Assists with incoming resident/fellow licensing
  • Assists with bulk license renewal of all upper level residents
  • Availability to work occasional overtime on weekends or evenings to complete time sensitive projects
  • Acquires knowledge for new technology and policy/procedure revisions
  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize priorities in organization of work flow
  • Able to perform duties independently, with a minimal need for direct supervision
  • Detailed oriented individual
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree with five years’ experience in an administrative field preferred.
  • Prior experience in an academic setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in grammar and spelling skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others verbally and in writing.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge and proficiency in word processing and file management using Word and other software as required by the department.
  • Ability and proficiency in electronic calendaring.
  • Ability to operate automated standard office equipment such as multi-line phone system, copier/scanner, shredder, etc.
  • Ability to meet assigned deadlines.
  • Ability to interpret, comprehends, and transmits complicated and detailed instructions accurately.

WMed Health is the clinical practice of the medical school with more than 300 providers offering comprehensive primary care and specialty services in several locations throughout Kalamazoo, Portage, and Battle Creek. The Department of Pathology faculty serve as the Office of the Medical Examiner for counties throughout Michigan and northern Indiana.

The W.E. Upjohn M.D. Campus located in downtown Kalamazoo serves as the primary educational facility with faculty and administrative offices, student study and social spaces, team-based learning halls, a state-of-the-art Simulation Center accredited by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare, basic science research labs, as well as toxicology and forensic pathology labs.

WMed is building upon Kalamazoo’s century-long foundation of drug discovery and medical device development with a strategic investment in clinical, laboratory, community, and educational research.
