Summary: Woodmen Hills Metro District is a quasi-municipal corporation and political subdivision of the State of Colorado. Located near Peyton Colorado, in the rapidly growing Falcon region, just east of Colorado Springs. Fitness instructors are dedicated to the safe and effective instruction of group fitness classes for the Woodmen Hills Metropolitan District, Parks and Recreation Department. Instructors will fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. This position will active participant in the departments fitness team to accomplish organizational goals.
Duties and responsibilities

- Maintain a safe environment for group fitness classes by ensuring safety standards required by certification and department standards. This includes cleaning and disinfecting equipment.
- Instruct cardiovascular, strength, dance, or conditioning-based group fitness class formats to members and guests at Woodmen Hills Metro District Parks and Recreation facilities. Examples include rebound, HIIT, and strength and conditioning classes.
- Attend and participate in continued education workshops and training sessions. This includes mandatory department meetings.
- Instructs participants on effective workout methods; explains proper techniques, demonstrates exercises; identifies different muscle groups, and teaches appropriate methods to strengthen specific muscles.
- Prepares appropriate equipment, music, and handouts for each class.
- Assists participants, answers questions, and maintains a positive exercise experience.
- Communicate with supervisor, informing them of class attendance, equipment needs, and other information needed to maximize participation.
- Communicate availability schedule and any class disruptions to department supervisor in accordance with departmental guidelines.
- Check and respond to business related emails.
- Assist the Parks and Recreation Department with special events throughout the year as needed. Examples include Concerts in the Park, Fitness Fairs, and other community events.
- Complete incident and accident reports.
- Maintain required certification and trainings.
Required Qualifications:
Certification Requirements
- Certified Group Fitness Instructor by nationally recognized organizations.
- Certified Rebound & Mini Tramp instructor or obtain within first 30 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- American Red Cross Community 1st Aid/CPR/AED certifications are preferred or must be obtained within 3 months of employment.
- Previous paid experience as a group fitness instructor is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Working knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology, and training principles.
- Knowledge of fitness teaching strategies and the incorporation of music, tempo, cueing technique, and rhythm. This includes choreography, music skills, and the ability to operate equipment related to playing music.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to enforce established policy, procedure, and guidelines.
- Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
- Creative, flexible, and innovative team player.
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, and talk or hear.

- Must also be able to project voice over the noise of the music so that the class participants are able to hear the instructions.
Compensation
· Full Pay Range, $17.00 - $28.00 (hourly).
· Hiring Range, $17.00 - $19.00 (hourly) based on qualifications and certifications.
· Annual performance-based raises will be issued at the District’s and Department’s discretion.
Additional Information
· This position is classified as non-essential.
· Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
· Primary work location Recreation Center East.
· Must commit to instructing a minimum of 2 classes a week.
