The Employment Specialist is responsible for helping consumers find employment, job training, job coaching and/or educational programs that meet their short and long term career objectives. This position must be able to mentor and support the individuals that we serve. Having communication skills combined with critical thinking techniques are vital prerequisites for this job. This position is Mondays-Fridays from 8am-4pm (Reasonable additional hours may be needed to support the individual upon supervisor’s approval) **Bilingual Communication Preferred**
1. Assessing consumer’s career interests and preferences and helping them achieve their career goals.
2. Communicate with clients to understand their goals and ambitions
3. Guide clients in learning to complete job tasks
4. Monitor, document and evaluate the progress of clients
5. Keep records and prepare the appropriate reports
6. Provide on-going training and support in identifying and applying to educational programs, and to conduct vocational training as needed.
7. Provide assistance with applying for financial aid.
8. Provide additional training and follow-up in related skills such as transportation and grooming.
9. Work with consumers on job selection, resume writing, and interviewing skills.
10. Help consumers conduct job searches using all available resources including on-line searches.
11. Assists in obtaining PASS plan funding to support educational and employment goals as indicated.
12. Provide education about mental illness to host companies and community groups as well as training the host company personnel to function as natural supports.
13. Work with consumers on job retention, job development and advancement.
14. Develop an Individual Service Plan with the consumer.
15. Participate in interagency planning to ensure consumer’s needs are met.
16. Identify and cultivate natural supports within educational and employment environs.
17. Assess consumer satisfaction through formal assessments and informal feedback.
18. Conduct employment related groups on topical issues.
19. Provide continued 1:1 training/retraining at the job site initially and as job changes.
20. Assist all team members whenever possible.
Preference will be given to candidates who can be flexible to coach outside of the normal work hours of 8am-4pm M-F.
