About this Role:
The World Council of Credit Unions ("WOCCU") is seeking a Vice President of International Advocacy to act as WOCCU’s chief advocacy officer and advocacy spokesperson, providing outstanding advocacy services to its members and in representation of the global credit union industry. The incumbent will lead the Advocacy team to undertake analysis, strategy development and advocacy for WOCCU members with a focus on the global standard setting bodies. They will support national credit union organizations in legislative and regulation analysis, education, and advocacy. They will also respond to member needs and requests regarding regulatory challenges; anticipate and mitigate the impact of internationally driven legislative and regulatory changes that may burden or adversely impact cooperative financial institutions.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Legislative and Regulatory Strategy Development: Develop and implement an effective strategy for advocating the interests of WOCCU’s members before international and national policy making and regulatory bodies. Identify key trends and telegraph forthcoming actions in the legislative regulatory arena. Establish priorities and strategies for addressing key legislative and regulatory issues. Recommend strategic action plan and policy direction for legislative and regulatory affairs.
International Advocacy: Support members by proactively engaging in policy dialogue with international standard setting bodies such as the International Accounting Standards Board, Bank for International Settlements, Financial Action Task Force, Group of 20 and others. Work with policymakers, industry and government officials to ensure appropriate and proportional supervisory and legislative environment for credit unions.
National-Level Advocacy: Support members in their lobbying efforts to improve the legislative and regulatory environments for credit unions.
Supervisory/Administrative: Work closely with WOCCU President & CEO to develop and execute on strategy related to Advocacy. Lead a team to manage all technical, budgetary and promotional aspects of Advocacy.

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to coordinate and monitor work flows to and from multiple sources.
Language Skills: Fluency in English required. Second language (Spanish, French, Portuguese) desired.
Computer Skills: Working knowledge of the web with proven skills in Microsoft Suite products

TRAVEL: Ability to travel internationally approximately 30% of the time.

Health, Dental, and Vision
Medical –WOCCU offers medical insurance through CareFirst with several options you can choose from (HMO, POS, and PPO) based on your individual and family needs. A four-tier plan (Employee Only, Employee Spouse, Employee Children, and Employee Family) coverage is offered to eligible WOCCU employees and dependents.
Flexible Spending Account (FSA) – Pre-tax dollars to pay for out-of-pocket healthcare or dependent care costs. The contribution limit is determined by the IRS and updated every year.
Dental –Delta Dental provides preventative, basic, major, and orthodontia (19 years and under) dental care services.
Vision Care – VSP covers vision expenses for exams, frames, standard lenses, and contact lenses.
Prescription Drug Coverage – Covers eligible prescription drug expenses at retail or mail-order pharmacies (included with selected medical coverage).
Domestic Partner Coverage – Domestic partners are covered under WOCCU health plans.
Disability and Life Insurance
Short-term Disability (STD) –Offers income replacement of 60% up to $1,500 per week for a maximum benefit period of 9 weeks. This benefit will begin after 0 days if you become disabled due to injury and after 7 days if you become disabled due to an illness.
Long-term Disability (LTD) –Offers income replacement of 60% up to $10,000 per month.
Group Life and AD&D Insurance – WOCCU provides a replacement for loss of income in the event of an employee's untimely death in the amount of two times the employee's salary up to a maximum of $350,000.
Voluntary Life and AD&D Insurance –WOCCU employees can elect additional life and AD&D insurance plans based on their family’s needs.
Voluntary Supplemental Benefits – WOCCU employees can elect supplemental benefits protections for hospital confinement, accident, cancer, critical illness, and additional term or whole life insurance.
Paid Time Off
Sick Leave – Eligible employees will accrue sick leave benefits at the rate of 12 days per year (1 day for every full month of service). Part-time employees accrue sick leave at a prorated rate.
Vacation Leave – Vacation time begins at the commencement of employment and accrues in proportional increments per pay period throughout the calendar year. Vacation accrual is based on years of service. 15 days of vacation for up to 5 years of service, 20 days for 5-9 years of service, 25 days for 10-19 years of service, ad 30 days for 20 years of service.
Paid Holidays – WOCCU offers 11 paid holidays and 1 floating holiday that can be used at the employee's discretion.
Other Benefits
401K – WOCCU offers a 401K retirement plan that allows pretax contributions up to the yearly annual maximum contribution set by the IRS into your investment funds. WOCCU employees are required to contribute a minimum of 4% of their salary, and WOCCU will match at 100% up to 4% of salary.
Flexible Spending (Parking and Transit) – WOCCU employees have the ability to use pre-tax dollars to a maximum allowance to pay out-of-pocket transportation expenses.
Tuition Reimbursement – Provided the coursework enhances job performance, WOCCU may reimburse employees up to 75% of the annual tuition and related fees incurred during a calendar year, up to a maximum of $5,250 in reimbursed funds per year. Part-time employees would be eligible for tuition reimbursement on a prorated basis.
