What are the responsibilities and job description for the Agricultural & Drainage Coordinator position at Wright County?
Performs intermediate skilled administrative support work managing the maintenance of Wright County's Drainage Systems through the direction and compliance of MN Chapter 103E Drainage Law. This position is also responsible for implementing and maintaining the County's drainage management policy, monitors the inspections of the County's drainage system, and conducts research on petitions, repairs, and improvements and recommends best management practice solutions for drainage problems. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Agricultural, Drainage, and Natural Resources Supervisor.

- Assists in preparation and maintenance of ditch system assessment rolls. Responsible for monitoring the systematic inspection of Wright County's drainage systems and conducts research for petitions, repairs, improvements.
- Recommends best management practice solutions for resolving drainage problems in the County.
- Plans and prioritizes drainage related work activities, maintenance operations procedures and standards, and protocol. Assists with preparing bid documents for the County's drainage system. Conducts basic construction site investigations utilizing survey-grade GPS equipment. Determines the necessary equipment and materials for task and project completion and adapts plans based on weather changes and equipment availability.
- Serves as the Project Supervisor on drainage system repairs completed by contractors.
- Track, report, enforce and notify landowners of buffer strip enforcement required under Minnesota Chapter 103F.
- Assists in the hiring of project contractors for the County and overseeing herbicide applications.
- Coordinates grant-funded programs for best management practices and water improvement and drainage projects. Research program requirements and sources of funds available and assists in writing grant applications and submits applications to funding agencies or foundations.
- Oversees the County's biocontrol site and creates and updates all agricultural-related forms and website materials.
- Responsible for community engagement, public relations, and communications related to the public drainage system and noxious weed ordinance.
- Conducts Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) flight operation and maintenance in accordance with current county policy and federal regulations.
- Performs work of the Agricultural and Drainage Inspector or assists with work as needed, including clearing trees and brush, mowing, seeding, herbicide application, and various equipment operations.

Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences, agricultural sciences, biology, geology, hydrology, or related field, and two years of experience working with water quality, drainage management and functionality issues, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
Class A CDL with Air Brakes and Tanker Endorsements within one year of employment.
First Aid/CPR certification within six months of employment
ATV Safety, Non-Commercial Pesticide Applicator Category A and E License, Tree Inspector, Forklift, Chainsaw certifications may be required depending on job assignments.
Previous experience working with ArcGIS and AutoCAD is preferred.
A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is also required upon hire.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
