Who You Are: As our Inventory Control Specialist, you will play a crucial role in managing our inventory of traffic management equipment and supplies. You will be responsible for tracking and controlling inventory, both in our warehouse and in the field. This position requires a balance of office work and field involvement.
- Develop and enforce robust inventory tracking and management policies and procedures to ensure a streamlined inventory control process.
- Implement and manage a comprehensive check-in/check-out system for tracking all equipment and supplies efficiently.
- Conduct regular physical inventories and reconciliations, ensuring accuracy in inventory records and promptly addressing any discrepancies.
- Collaborate with procurement and logistics teams to optimize inventory levels, ensuring availability while minimizing excess stock.
- Analyze inventory trends and generate reports to assist in forecasting and decision-making processes.
- Oversee maintenance and servicing schedules for equipment to ensure they are in optimal condition for field use.
- Liaise with field teams and project managers to ensure timely and efficient distribution and retrieval of traffic management equipment.
- Implement loss prevention strategies and conduct investigations in case of missing inventory.
- Train and guide team members on proper inventory handling and control practices.
- Stay abreast of the latest inventory management technologies and practices, recommending and implementing improvements as needed.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent experience in inventory control or a similar role.
- Minimum of 1 year, 2-3 years preferred, of experience in inventory control, warehouse management, or a related field.
- In-depth knowledge of inventory management principles and best practices.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex datasets and generate actionable insights.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively with diverse teams.
- Flexibility to work in varying environments, including office settings and field locations.
- Familiarity with traffic management equipment and safety protocols is a significant plus.
- Ability to lift and move heavy items, as some physical labor may be required.
- Clean driving record, pass internal Smiths driving course, pass drug/alcohol testing.
