Role Overview
The Quality Control Manager will champion, support or lead quality improvement initiatives. They are responsible for ensuring that all managers, process owners and supervisors develop and maintain their part of the ISO 2008/9001 quality management system. The quality manager monitors and advises on how the system is performing, which may often include the publication of statistics regarding company performance against set measures. This position maintains quality standards by approving incoming materials, conducts in-process inspection, and inspection on finished products; records and maintains results from quality inspections. This position reports to the Director of Engineering and Operations.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring that processes of the Quality Management System are established, implemented and maintained, and ensuring that customer requirements are promoted throughout the organization
- Develops, implements, manages and integrates a QMS that complies with the requirements of ISO 9001/2008
- Serves as the primary quality control resource for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement
- Manages quality assurance personnel on a day-to-day basis
- Reporting to management on the performance of the quality management system and any need for improvement
- Plan and/or chair the Management Review Meetings
- Establish format consistency in written procedures and work instruction
- Maintain customer focus and process improvement orientation
- Maintain and improve the Document Control process for the ISO system
- Help establish performance measures and indices
- Create new or amend existing procedures or work instructions
- Maintain schedule of internal audits, follow up assignments, and affect corrective actions
- Manage annual ISO audits
- Implement, monitor and analyze Continuous Improvement through Advanced Quality and LEAN tools including Value Stream Maps, 5S, Statistical Process Control, etc. and make improvement recommendations
- Support/perform customer audits and visits
- Interface with customers and suppliers
- Establish supplier quality rating system for delivery, quality and cost
- Other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift/ move up to 50 pounds of material without assistance. Ability to lift over 50 pounds with assistance from others.
- Ability to bend and stand for long periods of time
- Engaging in repetitive movements of wrists, hands, and fingers – typing and/or writing.
- Working frequently at close visual range (i.e. preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcription, computer terminal, extensive reading).
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Manufacturing/Industrial engineering or related degree, or equivalent from a four-year college; or four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- An advanced degree in a related field is desirable
- LEAN and/or Six Sigma training and certification strongly desired
- Excellent technology application skills including ERP systems, project management and spreadsheet tools. Prefer experience in implementing or converting ERP system.
- Knowledge in various Quality Management Systems including GMP, ISO, and QS9000.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Work, Excel, PowerPoint)
Salary : $88,700 - $112,000
