WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Entry-Level Bridge Inspector for our Lawrenceville, NJ office. Be involved in projects with our Transportation Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges.
Takes part in providing local technical assistance for the design, development, and construction of building and infrastructure projects in the public and private sector. Tasks may include basic assistance with the research, design, concept development, and construction of load-bearing structures or structural elements, such as buildings, bridges, roadways, and mechanical structures. Generates accurate and concise documentation regarding assigned aspects of the project. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, structural soundness, and functionality.
Your Impact
- To be efficient in the use of the client's Bridge Management, web based software to update asset information and generate inspection reports.
- Field duties including assisting the inspection team with equipment set up, data gathering and field documentation.
- Able to carry small ladders and equipment up to 25 lbs.
- Be willing to work weekends on field assignments (on occasion).
- Must work well in a team setting.
- Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures which include but are not limited to, location data, statistical documentation, engineering studies and surveys, and construction.
- Complete training on assigned tasks.
- Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.
- 0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience
- Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.
- Familiarity with process and concepts for design/build.
- Able to carry small ladders and equipment up to 25 lbs.
- Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
- Proficient and well organized with aiding in processing field documentation, charting of data and report writing.
- Familiarity with relevant structural and civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
- Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
- Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
- Approximately 25% travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements and business needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Recent graduate or May 2022 Graduate in an accredited Civil Engineering Undergraduate or Graduate program.
- The successful candidate will have 0-1 years of internship experience in civil engineering.
- Experience using Revit, AutoCAD and/or Microstation CADD software.
- Pass the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (EIT).
