WSP is currently initiating a search for an Early Careers Water Resources Engineer for our Providence, RI office with remote working capability. Be involved in projects with our Water/Civil Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact
- Assist senior engineers in the development of a wide variety of multi-discipline projects including water/wastewater treatment, public/private utility infrastructure, stormwater management and pump station projects.
- Perform civil, water, wastewater and stormwater design analyses including performing hydraulic calculations/modeling and determining basic design requirements for infrastructure design/upgrades, new development, marine/coastal, climate/resiliency and treatment projects.
- Prepare permitting application and supporting documents.
- Prepare complete, accurate, and concise technical reports and documentation summarizing analysis and project requirements, including how design approach addresses project requirements, using electronic systems and software.
- Utilize CADD to prepare contract drawings through a basic understanding of Civil 3D design.
- Utilize CADD and GIS tools in support of H&H analyses through a basic understanding of hydraulic modeling.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, Water Resources or closely related field.
- Engineer in Training Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- Experience and working knowledge of the following:
- CADD production and civil design software (AutoCAD and Civil 3D);
- Knowledge of GIS software and applications (e.g., Arc GIS, etc.)
- Self-starter with strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
- Ability to learn new modeling software and techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, and comply with company policies.
- Moderate proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, spreadsheets, and tools.
- Ability to work independently with some supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
- Ability to travel to local project sites to support business needs.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Civil 3D pipe network and/or pressure network is a plus.
- Master's Degree and/or relevant post-education experience in an engineering office with a focus on water/wastewater treatment; collection, distribution and conveyance systems infrastructure; resiliency and stormwater management.
- Affiliations with professional societies and active industry and community involvement are highly desirable.
