This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for two Laboratory Planners for our Atlanta office to work under the direction of Project Directors in cooperation with the project team to develop high quality design on time and on budget. Provides support to architects, engineers, and project managers for due diligence, planning, concept development, restoration, alteration, extension, and implementation of creative, functional, and sustainable building designs and/or construction of projects in the public and private sector. Tasks may include basic assistance with conceptually visualizing projects, preparing drawings, specifications, budgets, and construction documents, and developing and presenting design proposals. Generates accurate and concise drawings, renderings, and documentation regarding assigned tasks and construction specifications.
Your Impact
- With minimal supervision, assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, subsurface utility information, maps, environmental data, historical use, and other matrices for project development, design, and construction.
- Generate architectural and lab planning design concepts and presentations.
- Document architectural plans elevations, sections, details and schedules using REVIT and other BIM software.
- Coordinate work with lab planning team, MEP and structural engineers.
- Schedule equipment and benching systems for specialty laboratories.
- Function as a Designer to the extent necessary to complete projects on schedule and within budget.
- Perform basic professional architectural work relating to conducting research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, resources, building, infrastructure, and transportation channels to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits.
- Assist with the input of building technologies, concepts, modeling techniques, design requirements, and operating strategies to account for the safety and functionality of occupants and end-users, and incorporating future-ready solutions with architectural design standards.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, or closely related discipline.
- 1 to 3 years of relevant post education experience in the learned discipline.
- Proficient with REVIT, AutoCAD, and other graphic software skills.
- Ability to interpret a building program and generate varied design concepts.
- Familiarity with lab planning principles.
- Knowledge of building and zoning codes.
- Knowledge of technical specifications and general conditions.
- Knowledge of architectural principles, practices, process, and the application to project work-related issues.
- Familiarity with building planning, drawing standards, design, and construction management; including restorative and new design.
- Competent creative, visualization, and technical drawing skills.
- Familiarity with process and concepts for sustainability, green building design, and reducing and eliminating the use or generation of hazardous substances/greenhouse gas.
- Highly familiar with relevant building and construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Management of REVIT models and the coordination of deliverables.
- LEED or WELL accreditation.
- US Citizen for work on Federal project.
