JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Rescued Treasures Store Manager
RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to the Director of Social Enterprise
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
The Store Manager seeks to glorify Jesus Christ by leading store staff, volunteers, and program guests in faithful operation of the store to procure financial resources sustaining the programs of WRM. This position is Full-Time, Exempt.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Spiritual:
A. Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and confess Him as their personal Lord and Savior. (John 3:16, Acts 4:12)
B. Endeavor to live a Godly life in public and private, thereby providing a Christian role model for those we seek to reach. (1 Peter 1:13-16)
C. Agree with the WRM Statement of Faith.
Vocational:
A. High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in Retail Management, Business, Accounting, Communication, or similar discipline preferred.
B. Minimum 2 years’ management experience required.
C. Minimum 3 years’ experience in retail sales environment grossing $500,000-1 Million
D. Leadership experience in both business and faith-based environments preferred.
E. Excellent customer service and communication skills.
F. Competent in Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
G. Able to meet physical requirements of the job: standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, repetitive lifting up to 50 pounds
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Spiritual:
A. Grow spiritually in the Lord through prayer, memorization, meditation and study of the Word, and unity in Christian fellowship. (2 Peter 1:5-8, 2 Peter 3:18)
B. Be a consistent witness for Jesus in attitude, speech, and actions demonstrating a daily walk with Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 4:1-3, Ephesians 5:3-5)
C. Encourage guests, staff, volunteers, and customers to accept God’s gift of salvation and grow in their faith. (Romans 15:2, 1 Thessalonians 5:11,14)
D. Join in corporate worship and instruction with an external group of believers whose beliefs are in agreement with the WRM Statement of Faith. (Colossians 3:16, Hebrews 10:24-25)
E. Faithfully uphold WRM’s ministry in prayer. (1 Timothy 2:1)
Vocational:
A. Act as an advocate for the homeless, poor, and marginalized by raising the awareness of the causes, needs, and potential of those in poverty.
B. Maintain a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of WRM.
C. Provide general oversight, planning and implementation for all operations at assigned store.
D. Work with General Manager to create & implement plan to grow thrift store revenues to $1 Million within 5 years.
E. Create & submit annual budget and staffing requests to Director of Finance and administration.
F. Provide leadership and supervision of store assistant managers, general staff, volunteers and WRM program guests.
a. Ensure thrift store is staffed properly and tasks are assigned daily to maximize productivity of employees.
b. Maintain shared store calendar to communicate closures, special events, staff leave and other important dates with WRM leadership.
c. Ensure compliance with WRM policies and labor laws in regard to employee scheduling, breaks, overtime, time tracking, paid leave, holidays, health & safety program, drug & alcohol program, and disciplinary actions.
d. Lead assistant managers to facilitate consistent orientation and training of thrift store employees, volunteers, and discipleship guests.
e. Provide ongoing strengths-based mentorship and job skill development for store leadership, staff and guests in Servanthood Training.
f. Coordinate and oversee employee evaluations or disciplinary actions, assigning as appropriate to Assistant Managers, providing correction or coaching as needed.
G. Lead store staff to collect, process, and market merchandise in a timely manner while maximizing net revenues.
a. Oversee safe loading/unloading of merchandise to/from trucks and donor/customer vehicles.
b. Oversee the sorting, hanging, stocking, pricing, and marketing of merchandise.
c. Ensure continual flow of sellable goods through the store by establishing and maintaining daily processing quotas, discounting older items and removing non-selling items from the sales floor regularly.
d. Ensure timely supply order placement to facilitate sales needs.
e. Ensure timely disposal of waste and recycling
H. Ensure excellent customer service standards are established and maintained.
a. Train and supervise store leadership and staff to provide excellent customer service in all respects.
b. Handle donor or customer complaints in a timely, friendly, conciliatory manner.
c. Maintain a safe and healthy environment for all parties involved
d. Set and maintain housekeeping standards with emphasis on cleanliness of the sales floor and other public areas.
I. Ensure proper cash handling procedures are established and maintained
a. Select, train, oversee, and correct cashiers as needed to maintain the integrity of all financial duties.
b. Take final responsibility for register sales figures, cash reconciliation, change drawer balances and daily bank deposits.
J. All other duties as assigned by Rescued Treasures General Manager
Note: Ability to travel locally and statewide is required with limited out of state travel.
