What we are looking for:
The EGM Product - Payroll will partner with Engineering and Design to lead our payroll teams. This role is responsible for delivering a beautiful payroll customer experience in all of the markets where we have a payroll offering. You will own the geographical customer payroll employer experience, as well the underlying global domains that are critical to the payroll product. You will be responsible for the product teams inventing and delivering the Xero customer experience for the next decade including evolving the operating model to support this and modernising the technology platform. You will be jointly responsible (with our Customer team and regional GTM teams) for Xero Payroll’s commercial outcomes.
You will spend your time obsessing about the end-to-end customer journey, thinking across product and marketing to ensure our customers journey is a compelling, coherent and consistent one. This includes a deep focus on the customer purchase journey through activation, retention and expansion.
As EGM Product - Payroll, you will be responsible for teams of Xeros that create value for our small businesses and our partners by building and enhancing the products that make the magic happen. You will provide oversight across your portfolio, ensuring the right things are built at the right time and through doing so you’ll contribute to Xero achieving its goals. You will support the broader Connected Workplaces portfolio objectives by delivering payroll experiences and technology that seamlessly connects employer and employee workflows.
This role will be based in Sydney, Melbourne or Auckland
What you’ll do:
• Develop a product strategy and roadmap for the portfolio in collaboration with Divisional EGM Product, Product GMs, Product Managers and internal stakeholders to meet Xero’s strategic objectives
• Regularly review this strategy, updating it to reflect changes in Xero’s strategy, market changes, and lessons learned from customers and initiatives
• Be accountable for the commercial success of the products you and your team create and manage
• Define, own and communicate the product roadmap and prioritisation (including development of business cases) to best determine how to service customer needs
• Ensure the roadmaps produced by Product GMs and Product Managers are data-informed, based on customer research, have clear objectives and KPIs, balance functional and nonfunctional work and are realistic
• In collaboration with design and product teams, transform product ideas into actionable concepts, timelines, and projects while maintaining a serious consideration of the financial implications, marketing needs, and the overall objectives of the business.
• Work with other product teams and other teams within Xero to create a framework of quantitative metrics that demonstrate the success or otherwise of product evolution and product marketing
• Build and lead highly effective teams of product managers, product owners, developers and analysts that continually improve and deliver value to our customers. Empower your teams to do the best work of their lives.
• Contribute to the improvement of Xero’s product leadership capability
• Manage the day-to-day execution of all product activities for the purpose of meeting the product and Xero’s goals
What you’ll bring:
• Previous experience in leading people leaders and forming high-performing teams
• Proven experience collaborating with a diverse stakeholder group to realise commercial outcomes
• Solid track record of addressing customer needs through innovative use of technology
• Proven ability to influence outcomes at all levels
• Extensive experience working with software development projects at scale
• Demonstrated experience in defining product roadmaps and planning
• Strong understanding of business software solutions
• Broad knowledge of technology and software development
