THE ROLE: The Sr. Buyer will be responsible for analyzing and processing authorized requisitions by establishing sources of supply and issuing financially binding purchase orders to obtain needed materials and services required by Xylem. This position will also be responsible for managing and maintaining the design of the current product as well as future design changes as market needs change within Xylem’s global sites. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Implement sourcing strategies and supplier relationships to leverage Xylem purchases and customers’ requirements.
- Creates plans to achieve cost saving targets.
- Negotiate purchase contracts with selected suppliers and follows up on delivery and quality compliance.
- Responsible for maintaining proper inventory levels and part ordering policies in MRP software systems.
- Analyze and interpret MRP reports and take appropriate courses of action.
- Recommends design change to customer product and initiates new supply programs favorable to Xylem in areas of Production, Inventory Control, and Quality improvement.
- Correspond with Xylem sites worldwide pertaining to specifications, drawings, product life cycle, bids, quotations, and other matters relative to purchasing or product design and follow up.
- Manage suppliers to the levels of delivery and quality performance required by Xylem.
- Familiar with competitive worldwide market situations and material alternatives. Research to benchmark suppliers and processes.
- Assist Xylem Global Procurement team with data collection, outsourcing and communication.
- Additional duties and responsibilities may be required based on organizational needs.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Accounting, or related field
- CPSM Certification is a plus.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Strong people skills and ability to effectively interact with all levels of external and internal customers.
- Effective verbal/ written communication and presentation skills
