Position Description
The Equipment Operator will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner. This position requires knowledge/experience of Matting Industry, Civil Construction items (Culvert Install, Access Roads, TCEs, Gate Installs, etc.), and Erosion & Sediment Control items. The Operator will be required to work in all weather, and must be prepared for both extreme heat and cold environments.

With the equipment listed above, you will perform the following responsibilities:
- Installation of all types of Mat products.
- Installation of culverts, construction entrances, access roads, dirt work, gates, and other civil related items.
- Installation of erosion & sediment control items in relation to the specified Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP).
- Perform daily safety and maintenance checks.
- Perform daily pre- and post-equipment inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies.
- Participate in routine maintenance, greasing etc.
- Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored.
- Practice workplace safety and maintain a safe working environment for themselves and their co-workers.
- Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Must be able to operate equipment largely independently, self-directed and with minimal supervision.
- Effectively communicate to all site personnel.
- Maintain daily logs of equipment usage, maintenance, etc.
- Must have a clear understanding of ground signals, and maintain constant eye contact with ground personnel.
- Three or more years of experience operating multiple types of heavy equipment on large construction projects.
- High school diploma or equivalent, with ability to read and write fluently (English).
- Excellent communication skills.
- Valid drivers license.
- Three or more years of experience operating multiple types of heavy equipment on large construction projects.
- Ability to travel out of town during the week or on weekends, and work extensive overtime.
- Knowledge of safety hazards of construction projects.
- Skill in reading and interpreting Access and Construction Plans.
- Knowledge of construction inspection principles and techniques.
- Skill in setting up and maintaining records.
- Be able to report to work at the designated location and start time.
