LKL – Spray Technician (Lawn Maintenance)

Position type: This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, with variable hours, beginning at 7:00am. Occasional weekend and work over 40 hours as needed.

Reports to: Account Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary: The primary purpose of the Spray Technician is to perform landscaping weed control and fertilization procedures; organize and prioritize weed control inspections, maintenance, and responses, in accordance with our high quality and WOW customer service standards.

Responsibilities:

• Operates light to heavy vehicles and tools in the application of herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, and fertilizers, e.g., trucks, sprayers, and spreaders.
• Utilize various hand-held manual sprayers.
• Applies chemicals and fertilizers as needed in accordance with prescribed use and in accordance with accepted industry practices, and rules and requirements of various federal, state, and local regulatory agencies. EPA, Dept of AG, etc.
• Maintains cleanliness of facilities and equipment. Maintains the inventory of materials.
• Maintains accurate records of chemical and biological agents used.
• Evaluates and prepares cost estimates for various projects.
• Prepares and mixes chemical agents used in the trade.
• Ensures the safe and appropriate use of various chemicals and products, mixing according to label instructions and product specs while in accordance with prescribed safety directions.
• Ensures the safe and lawful disposal of waste and hazardous materials.
• Inspects completed work.
• Obtains written quotes in the procurement of parts, materials, and equipment.
• Responsible for ensuring all work and activities are performed safely in accordance with company policies.
Must function in harsh weather conditions and can perform mitigation efforts in emergencies.

Minimum Requirements:

• 1 year experience performing landscaping weed control & fertilization procedures or related tasks.
• Ability to proficiently follow safety procedures and supervisory instructions.
• Ability to manage the workload and physical demands of the job.
Interact and communicate with others in a professional and courteous manner.

Work Environment : While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be subjected to strenuous work in adverse weather conditions, as well as exposure to dirt, water, chemicals, noise, etc.

Physical Demands The duties of this job require:

• Using upper and lower body to work in various positions including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, squatting, and walking for extended periods of time.
• Reaching over head with hands and arm to hold, climb or balance.
• Using hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
• Lifting, pulling and pushing materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

Travel: Spray Technicians travel from main operations building to job sites in company truck and back daily.
