What are the responsibilities and job description for the Resident monitor position at YMCA of Greater Cleveland?
POSITION SUMMARY :
As part of a team, provide responsible care for Y-Haven residents and perform tasks to assist with the safe and effective operation of the program.
The Resident Monitor is responsible for helping provide a safe and secure living environment for Y-Haven residents, testing residents for drugs / alcohol, monitoring resident behavior, monitoring medication and providing practical and social support to Y-Haven residents.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Monitor residents and maintain compliance of rules & regulations (document all infractions).
- Monitor behavior that may indicate drug / alcohol use.
- Administer, observe and interpret urinalysis and breathalyzer testing.
- Provide conflict resolution, help de-escalate resident conflicts.
- Perform regular room and hallway checks, report residents not in facility by curfew.
- Report and record resident incidents / disturbances.
- Become certified in First Aid, CPR, AED and Narcan administration and provide these to residents as needed.
- Monitor and record resident medications.
- Answer phone.
- Attend required Y-Haven and YMCA meetings and trainings.
- Offer support to residents by listening to, interacting with, respecting, showing interest in, holding accountable, and caring for each individual.
- Be visibly involved w / Y-Haven residents, volunteers and staff in a positive, friendly manner that communicates and demonstrates the YMCA's core values of caring, honest, respect and responsibility.
- Follow all established policies and procedures, including but not limited to, safety practices and personnel policies.
- Participate in and support association events and fund raising activities.
- Responsible for following the child abuse and neglect reporting process including completion of Suspected Child Abuse / Neglect reporting form, calling children protective services (696-Kids) and notifying your immediate Supervisor, Branch Executive, Risk Management and Human Resources Department (s).
All employees of the YMCA of Greater Cleveland are mandated reporters for any signs or suspicion of child abuse and neglect.

QUALIFICATIONS : Education :
Education :
High School dipolma or GED preferred
Experience :
1 year work experience in related field.
Certification(s) :
- CPR and First Aid certification and Safety training required within 30 days of hire.
- Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant license preferred.
- Secure required trainings and / or certifications necessary for the position.
Technical Skills and Knowledge :
- Bilingual (Spanish / English) preferred, but not required
- Familiarity with drug and alcohol addiction and 12-step recovery programs.
- Ability to read and write and understand written instructions.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Friendly, outgoing personality.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks successfully.
- Demonstrate commitment to the mission, cause of the YMCA, and uphold its values and ethics.
- Ability to work effectively work with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions
- Willingness and ability to be a mandated reporter for any signs or suspicion of child abuse and neglect.
