GENERAL FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Program Director, the Instructional Chef is responsible for the development, planning, administration, and delivery of cooking demonstration or classes, as well as demonstrate cooking skills and recipe preparation knowledge in an engaging manner. The Instructional Chef makes sure the kitchen and the equipment are clean, maintained, and runs efficiently. The position is responsible for ensuring that the mission, purpose, image and core values at the YMCA of Greater Rochester are conveyed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Be at least 21 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED.
• Must have relevant and appropriate background in working in a professional kitchen. Experience must include product preparation and storage of raw and prepared food.
• Have strong interpersonal, communication, and organization skills.
• Current certification in CPR/AID and First Aid or be able to obtain these certifications within 60 days of hire.
• ServSafe Certification preferred.

• Safe handling of food and equipment
• Ensure proper retention and management of all leftover food.
• Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen.
• Maintain all required certifications.
• Attend all required meetings and training.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be able to stand for the duration of the shift.
• Must be able to bend and stoop occasionally.
• Must be able to lift 45 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to move quickly to react to safety issues in the setting.
