TITLE:
Youth Development Coordinator
STATUS:
Full-time, Non-exempt
REPORTS TO:
Youth Development Director Downtown
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. School age programming and curriculum. Assistant with Child Adult Care Food Program in the Early Learning Center. Assistant when needed in the Early Learning Center with programming and coaching. In addition, provide care that encourage physical, spiritual, emotional, and intellectual growth in a safe and nurturing environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Bachelor’s degree in early childhood development/education, Elementary education, or related field required preferred.
- At least a Level 10 on the Wisconsin Registry.
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in program administration/education, preferred. Staff management experience, preferred.
- Knowledge of state child care licensing and Young Star accreditation requirements preferred
- Certifications that must be obtained and maintained within first 90 days: CPR, AED, First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention, Blood borne Pathogens, Hazard Communication.
- Willingness to attend meetings, training, and obtain additional certification as requested.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; including leading classes, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting. Individuals in this position may be subject to all elements of weather and loud facilities. Completion of a health exam and a negative TB test within 30 days of beginning work with children required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Direct day-to-day operations in the After-School Care, School’s Out and Day Camp. Assistant when needed in the Early Learning Center.
- Supervise assigned children and all areas of program utilization. Closely monitor arrivals, departures and absences of all participants.
- Develop and maintain curriculum plans. Ensure implementation of lesson plans that utilize, but are not limited to the following areas: values, storytelling, games, drama, arts and crafts singing, multi-cultural activities, and sports/fitness.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and healthy environment by fostering cooperative, social behavior through games, group projects and supervision.
- Maintain documentation, participant records, and up hold program policies and practices in compliance with licensing.
- Maintain good public relations and open communication with parents and co-workers
- Ensure safety and cleanliness of all equipment and facilities utilized by programs. Assist in preparing staff schedules, assuring sufficient staff coverage during hours of operations and personally cover shifts if necessary.
- Assist in hiring, training, evaluating and supervising staff and volunteers in accordance with Association Human Resource procedures and policies.
- Assure state licensing and Young Stars accreditation standards and requirements are adhered to within all licensed child care programs. Maintain favorable communications and compliance statements with the Department of Children and Family Services.
- Assist in developing, managing, and monitoring program budget in accordance with Association Finance Department procedures and policies.
- Promptly respond to all emergency situations by adhering to the current emergency procedure guidelines.
- Attends all required trainings, family outreach activities and meetings.

DISCLAMER:
