What are the responsibilities and job description for the YMCA Bus Driver position at YMCA OF SUMTER?
General Function:
Under the direction of the Youth Enrichment Director and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Bus Driver will be responsible for the safe transportation of YMCA members and participants, daily vehicle routes, cleanliness, quality checks and maintenance of YMCA vehicles.
Know How:
· Must be at least 21 years of age
· Must have an interest in working with school age children
· Must have an enthusiastic personality
· Must be attentive to details
· Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
· Must have excellent human relation skills
· Must be able to take initiative in making decisions and solving problems in the areas of assigned responsibilities
· Must be mature, decisive, and responsible and must be able to put the needs of members and program participants ahead of his/her own needs.
· Must be customer service oriented
· Must have a valid SC Commercial Driver’s License for transporting passengers
Physical Requirements:
This position requires the following physical requirements.
· Sight, Hearing and Speaking
· Normal hearing tone of voice up to 30 feet and visual sight from a distance of 100 yards
· Standing, Walking, Stooping, Kneeling, Squatting, Climbing, Sitting
· Lifting and carrying a minimum of 50 lbs.
· Pulling a minimum of 100 lbs
Principle Activities
· Plan and implement transportation program including scheduling, maintenance and quality checks.
· Responsible for the safety of the children at all times.
· Responsible for daily record keeping and attendance on vehicles.
· Attend all staff meetings and training as required by the Youth Director.
· Ensure the daily cleaning and maintenance of the space and/or facility, help to create a safe program environment each day, set up and takes down included, while meeting quality walk through standards.
· Responsible for meeting the individual needs of all the children in the program.
· Control and maintain supplies and inventory.
· Responsible for safe and efficient execution of assigned duties in program area.
· Maintain positive relationships and open, positive communication with parents, YMCA personnel, site personnel, participants and volunteers.
· Maintain operational standards and employment agreement.
· Assist in planning and implementing full day programs including scheduling, registration and communication.
· Assist with daily program as assigned.
· Responsible for incorporating the Christian Mission of the YMCA in all program components and work relationships.
· Take on additional responsibilities in support services for the total program.
· Assume any other duties as assigned.
