President/CEO

The YMCA of Lincoln, NE is seeking an innovative, strategic and community minded individual to serve as its next President/CEO.

For more than 150 years the YMCA of Lincoln, NE has responded to the changing needs of the community. Moving forward, the President/CEO will further strengthen a vision that responds to and engages the community, delivers quality programs, member engagement, staff engagement, operational results and philanthropic support including fundraising for annual and capital campaigns.

The President/CEO is a highly visible leadership role in the community. The President/CEO should be knowledgeable about the needs of all YMCA of Lincoln, NE stakeholders and of the organization’s mission, opportunities, challenges, needs and resources. The role also demands a broad knowledge of the YMCA movement locally and nationally.

• Bachelor’s degree, from an accredited college or university, required. Master’s degree a plus.
  
• A proven track record of ten plus years of previous experience in a senior leadership role with comparable budgetary/fiscal management and responsibility for a high-performing, complex, multiple location, mission-driven organization with at least $15 million annual budget.
  
• Strategic planning and fundraising experience including a lead role in annual and capital campaigns and the securing of grants.
• Demonstrated successful experience in developing effective strategic partnerships and relationships to further the impact of an organization.
• Knowledge and understanding of community resources and the ability to engage and partner these resources with the YMCA to meet strategic objectives.
  
• Effective leadership skills in board governance.
• Ability to communicate and relate to people of various social and economic backgrounds.
• Residency in Lincoln, NE is required.

The position requires excellent communication skills and requires a strong and visionary leader who can build trust, innovate and develop a strategic vision for the organization aligned to key measures of success. The President/CEO should be an experienced leader equipped to achieve the following:

• Develop and Implement a Strategic Plan: Work effectively with volunteers, community leaders, and key staff, to create and develop a strategic plan that addresses the needs of the communities served by the YMCA and includes defined organizational strategies, a clear implementation plan with deliverables, and measurable goals.
  
• Cause-Driven Leadership: Inspire and mobilize staff, volunteers, members, community members and community partners to strengthen our communities for all. Creates a welcoming, equitable, affirming, genuine, hopeful, and nurturing environment dedicated to making the communities served stronger.
  
• Build and Lead Staff: Hire, motivate, nurture, retain, and hold staff accountable for key objectives. Encourage the team by creating a spirit of camaraderie, inclusion and sense of mission and purpose.
  
• Position the YMCA as a Vital Partner for Community Change: Serve as an ambassador for the mission, purpose, and vision for the YMCA within the community. Possess the ability to develop and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders from diverse backgrounds, while always upholding the highest standards and values of the YMCA. Ensure the YMCA is seen as a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community by connecting all people to their potential, purpose, and each other.
  
• Operating Performance: Engage the board and appropriate staff to develop an annual tactical plan for identifying and achieving key goals and objectives towards operating with safe, relevant and sustainable practices. Quickly address issues that may arise, forecast future needs, and manage and direct the YMCA’s operations and activities.
  
• Fiscal Management: Use high-level financial analysis to forecast financial trends, growth and stability. Establish fiscal strategies to maintain and improve existing facilities and fund potential future facilities identified in the strategic plan. Empower and guide staff leaders to lead their departments to successful financial operation. Develop and implement stewardship strategies.
  
• Financial Development and Building a Culture of Philanthropy: Lead strategic fundraising efforts, building upon a strong plan for how the organization will continue to leverage its brand to serve its mission. Cultivate relationships with the local philanthropic community and look for opportunities to build new pipelines for funding sources as well as continuing to collaborate with community partners on potential future projects.
  
• Develop an Effective and Diverse Volunteer Board: Work with the board to cultivate a diverse and inclusive pool of board members relative to the strategic plan, key goals and diversity of the communities we serve.
