As the Finance Director , you will provide leadership and oversight for all financial aspects of the organization. You will support development of the operating budget, manage all accounting functions, administer accounting policies and procedures, and ensure preparation of complete and accurate financial statements.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who displays the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent required, CPA license preferred. Five or more years of related experience required. Accounting experience in a non-profit organization preferred. Knowledge of GAAP and single audit requirements is necessary. Previous staff supervisory experience preferred. Knowledge of, and expertise with, computerized accounting systems and standard business software required. The ability to maintain confidentiality is crucial.

Essential Functions

In this role, you can look forward to:

  • Managing all functions of accounting association-wide, ensuring that legal and audit requirements are met and that best practices are applied.
  • Monitoring monthly financial operations and preparing analysis and reports that provide financial guidance to senior leadership and board volunteers.
  • Ensuring that monthly financial reports are delivered with the highest level of accuracy and are submitted on time to the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
  • Overseeing the hiring, training, development and supervision of accounting staff.
  • Serving as a resource to management and program staff in matters relating to accounting and accounts payable.
  • Under the direction of the Executive Director, managing the annual budgeting process including issuing guidelines and procedures, training staff, auditing budgets, overseeing data input and preparing projections and reports.
  • Managing the cash flow, including collections and receivables to ensure proper liquidity and adequate return within the risk demand deemed acceptable by the organization.
  • Ensuring financial records are properly maintained and internal controls are in place, communicated consistently and implemented across the organization. Implementing appropriate systems and internal controls to adequately safeguard the YMCA’s financial resources and to provide a solid basis for accurately reporting financial data.
  • Overseeing and certifying the annual audit and contacting outside auditors periodically to maintain communication and keep them informed of changes.
  • Overseeing preparation of tax returns including the IRS Form 990 and any other financial forms required from the state or federal government and/or reports required from grant funds.
  • Performing all necessary banking operations including maintaining the checking balance, reconciling monthly account and transferring funds as needed.
  • Preparing daily work including journal entries and adjusting entries. Reconciling all subsidiaries to general ledger.

Required Certifications

Y-USA Multi-Team Leader Certification preferred.

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
