What Would You Do? The right candidate runs an efficient and profitable parts department through productive staffing, customer retention, cost controls, achieving objectives, and maintenance of all parts records. They are responsible for overseeing the operations of locating, ordering, receiving, and verifying parts and ensures that incorrect or damaged parts are returned to the vendor and monitors credits for the returns. They ensure that all work is performed with the goal of expediting all repairs requiring parts and keeping the cycle time as low as possible. The Parts Manager is responsible for nurturing and cultivating a positive culture and work environment that aligns with the mission and values of the organization.
What will you be responsible for?
- Effectively manages a profitable parts department and ensures that the department is providing exceptional customer service to all parts customers.
- Handles or oversees the daily ordering of parts from supplier/manufacturer.
- Monitors all daily processes that include customer sales, internal parts sales, inventory control, parts purchasing, vendor relations, and special orders.
- Regularly audits repair orders ensuring parts are charged out on repair orders.
- Assists in the timely return of cores, warranty parts, and obsolete parts to all vendors.
- Communicates with customers before issues arise and gets involved in escalated customer issues.
- Develops strong working relationships with all other departments; directs and schedules the activities of all department associates and ensures employees follow safety policies, rules, and practices.
- Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that affect the parts department.
- Hires, trains, motivates, counsels, and monitors the performance of all parts department staff.
- Prepares and administers annual/monthly operating budgets for the parts department.
- Effectively manage obsolete parts inventories according to established objectives
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
Do you have the necessary education and experience?
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- 5 years of parts experience is required.
- 5 years of dealership, service and parts is preferred.
- 3 years of department management experience is preferred.
- Base Salary Commission compensation, Exempt: $67k-$97k annually
