What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Field Technician position at York Analytical Laboratories, Inc.?
York Analytical is seeking a full-time Field Technician (M-F 8:00 am to 5:00 pm). The position will involve the following duties:
- Sample Collection of Drinking Water
- Soil and other environmental media sampling
- Occasional work as a laboratory courier
- Occasional work as a lab technician (tasks include, but not limited to bottle prep & sample disposal)
Utilizing Standard Operating Procedures developed by the lab and/or CT/NY/NJ state guidance and regulatory sampling procedures, the successful candidate will collect drinking water, and soil samples following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) developed by the lab and/or state agencies. This job requires driving between locations to complete work tasks in a company vehicle, so a clean driving record is required. OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour training is a plus but, candidate will be trained and will maintain the annual 8-hour refresher course.
Candidates will have an Environmental Sciences, Geology, Engineering, or other related field degree with some experience a plus. The position will require daily travel to job sites within YORK’s regional service area covering NY, NJ and CT.
Candidates must:
- be able to work outside in all weather conditions and be able to lift coolers full of samples and ice that may weigh up to 50 lbs.
- be able to interact with clients in a pleasant and professional manner to schedule and confirm appointments.
- be able to work well individually or with other team members.
- be comfortable working on construction sites.
- be able to work overtime and occasional weekends, as needed.
- be able to use field meters for chlorine, pH, temperature and other field screening meters.
- have familiarity with Google Work and Microsoft Office.
Ability to commute to Prospect Park, NJ/Nyack, NY area: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
