What are the responsibilities and job description for the AquAbility Swim Instructor - Tomlinson South Meridian YMCA position at YOUNG MEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION OF BOISE IDAHO INC?
The South Meridian Branch of the Treasure Valley YMCA is unlike any other in the country. Our 60,000-square-foot facility is part of a unique collaboration that combines family recreation, education, sports, literacy, and wellness care on a single campus called “The Hill.” Hand in hand with our partners—St. Luke’s Health System, the West Ada School District, and the City of Meridian—the South Meridian Family Y will help us build A BETTER US.
The AquAbility Swim Instructor is responsible for creating a safe, friendly, and helpful atmosphere for members participating in an AquAbility program. This program supports people with diverse abilities through programs that increase independence, ability, confidence, health, and well-being.
Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent delivery of AquAbility program to all members.
- Engage members to deepen their relationships in the Y cause.
- Monitor and ensure safety of participants, staff and volunteers in the AquAbility program.
- Record weekly participant data for tracking.
- Actively work to increase participation.
- Mentor class volunteers as assigned.
- Handle and resolve class concerns and inform supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
- Stay informed of all program offerings, class scheduling, membership changes, policies, etc. and cross promote when appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Aquatics background preferred.
- Work with Hiring Manager to complete Therapeutic Aquatics for People with Disability Certification.
Schedule:
This is a part time position of 4-20 hours a week. Flexible day/hours. Weekend hours are available.
