Education and Experience:
- Requires Bachelor Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or Criminal Justice with 5 years of proven experience working with families and children in a direct in-home setting. Requires 3 years’ supervisory experience
- Prefers Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or Criminal Justice with 3 years of experience working with families and children in a direct in-home setting. Prefers 2 years supervisory experience; previous experience with Child Protective services of the Dept. of Human Services; Social Work license eligibility preferred
- Must have valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance as required by law.
Job Summary: The supervisor of parenting and visitation services will assist with developing and implementing quality, cost-effective services for children and their families within the community. This person ensures services and programs are delivered in the community following established guidelines, performance measures, agency policies, and procedures. This employee will supervise parenting and visitation staff. This person is expected to assist with training, supervision, and evaluations and foster staff's professional development in specific programs (e.g., Visitation and parenting, child care, substance abuse, mentoring/support, mental health/counseling, and prevention services). The supervisor will also assist in developing marketing and participating in public promotions of the assigned program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the training and support of staff through regular scheduled individual supervision with staff: case reviews, evaluations of employee performance related to program quality and service requirements
- Assign referrals following program standards
- Provide oversight of staff documentation, assessments, timely completing of reports, and overall quality of service guidelines and protocol
- Assist in compiling reports, billing, and invoices for reconciliation of payment
- Oversee the input of data into reporting systems designed to track demographics and performance measures (e.g., Electronic Medical Record Database and referral/authorization databases)
- Organize areas of responsibility by developing teams and motivating others to accomplish objectives effectively
- Communicate all issues related to program oversight and staff to the director
- Assist in interviewing and selecting appropriate family and parenting candidates.
- Represent YSS and serve as the agency liaison working cooperatively with local and statewide committees
- Meet deadlines and make recommendations for program improvement
- Establish program objectives and service goals with defined performance benchmarks and recommend needed modifications
- Assist with developing operating policies and procedures
- Monitor contract performance and prepare reports to ensure compliance with grant funding requirements and agency goals
- Identify other contract opportunities for new and expanded services and programs
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to make good decisions, initiate action independently, give clear directions, and motivate others
- Experience with youth and adults who have mental health and/or substance abuse issues
- Ability to develop personnel to perform competently within their scope of responsibility
- Proven experience with children and families who have experienced trauma.
- Assist with accomplishing objectives efficiently, effectively, and harmoniously
- Able to provide clear information, orally and in writing, listening effectively and accurately
- Knowledge of community support services, e.g., housing, emergency utility assistance
- Able to work cooperatively, respectfully, and constructively with others outside the immediate area of responsibility
- Able to work independently and with the input of a supervisor actively and continually develop increasing expertise
- Proficient and accurate documentation
- Ability to use Adobe and Microsoft software
Salary: $50,000
