POSITION SUMMARY: YouthCare is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Marketing, Communications & Public Relations to lead and execute strategic marketing initiatives, oversee communication efforts, and manage public relations activities. The ideal candidate will have a passion for our mission, exceptional communication skills, and a proven track record in developing and implementing successful marketing strategies within the nonprofit sector. The Director of Marketing, Communications & Public Relations is a member of the Development Leadership team and will manage a team of marketing and communications staff and work closely with key team members to capture, develop, and share youth stories through various communication platforms to educate donors, and inspire the community to give, get involved, and take action to end youth homelessness.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies that align with the organization's mission, goals, and programs to increase visibility, engagement, and support.

· Lead and manage a high-performance team responsible for marketing, communications, and public relations activities, providing guidance, support, and mentorship.

· Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including development, program, administrative, and executive leadership, to ensure cohesive messaging and brand consistency.

· Oversee the creation of compelling content across various platforms, including digital media, social media, website, press releases, newsletters, annual reports, and marketing collateral.

· Plan and manage the public launch strategy for our capital campaign.

· Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, influencers, and partners to secure press coverage and promote the organization's initiatives and events.

· Monitor and analyze marketing and communication metrics, using data-driven insights to optimize strategies and measure the impact of campaigns.

· Manage the organization's public relations efforts, crisis communications, and reputation management strategies effectively.

· Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to implement innovative marketing approaches.

LEADERSHIP:

· Serve as agency leader in all aspects of Communications as member of the Senior Leadership Team

· Lead and manage Communications & Social Media Manager and Communications Coordinator – the team responsible for public information, web communication, marketing, video and photography, graphic design, and social media.

· Provide strategic vision for YouthCare’s Communications and messaging to inform the public about YouthCare’s work and ensure diversity in content and voices in alignment with our agency mission.

· Attend and assist your team members with contributing to our DEI&J culture by creating at least one SMART Goal related to DEI&J within their control to deliver.

· Lead at least one check-in each month with each team member to review SMART Goals, Values, and DEI&J commitments to be set up for success at the mid-year performance review. Additionally, recognize and provide positive feedback for all accomplishments.

QUALIFICATIONS –

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

· Requires a proven and experienced leader in communications, marketing, storytelling, and/or digital strategy.

· At least 7-years of experience in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or similar field

· At least 5 years of demonstrated project planning and management skills. Experience developing and implementing successful marketing/communication projects and campaigns.

· At least 3 years of supervisory experience including strong leadership, facilitation, delegation, and coaching skills. Demonstrated ability to lead through influence.

· Bachelor's degree required in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field or equivalent experience.

· Experience fielding requests from, managing, and working closely with media partners and reporters.

· Commitment to and understanding of issues of social justice and racial equity.

· Broad working knowledge and understanding of best practices in marketing, communications, and advertising methods and tools. Ability to apply concepts to actual situations in a practical manner and to guide others accordingly.

· Knowledge of digital marketing tactics, such as SEO and email marketing best practices

· Knowledge of new and social media best practices

· Experience managing high-level communications and sensitive public relations issues.

· Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to exercise good judgement and solve problems expediently.

· Excellent attention to detail

· Strong presentation and communication skills

· Ability to work proactively and independently, anticipating needs and performing a wide variety of assignments.

· Experience and credentials must comply with program contractual requirements, including but not limited to the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) background clearance process and must be at least 21 years of age. DCYF Clearance must be maintained for entirety of employment when working with under-18 clients.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

· American Marketing Association (AMA) Professional Certified Marketer (PCM) preferred.

· Experience working with community members of varying backgrounds and experiences including vulnerable young people or young adults.

· Experience working with highly sensitive and confidential information.

· Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and/or graphic design

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Must be able to provide I-9 supporting documentation for employment.
  • Ability to provide a negative TB Test (results must be within one year of hire date).
  • Employees who drive YouthCare vehicles as a requirement for their position, must be at least 21 years of old, possess a valid Washington State Driver’s License, meet minimum safe driver criteria established by the agency and our insurance company which includes completion of Defensive Driving and 15-passenger Van trainings. Drivers under the age of 25 must have been licensed for at least three years and those operating vehicles with a capacity of 15 or more passengers must be at least 25 years old.
  • Successful completion of pre-service training as required by contracting agency.
  • Computer software skills including Windows, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel.

  • Ability to accurately maintain and produce files, records, logs and reports.
  • May be required to assume responsibilities or duties within the agency not specifically delineated in this job description for short periods of time or on an infrequent basis.

PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS:

  • Ability to perform a range of physical motions, exerting up to 50 pounds. Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds; standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, kneeling, squatting, and stooping; running for brief periods of time; and go up and down stairs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $94,051.00 - $136,374.00 per year
