The role:
The Clinical Supervisor provides clinical and/or administrative supervision to one or more other Mental Health Therapists and/or Addiction Counselors. This position serves as a leadership role within the agency providing expertise and input to assure the stability and growth of behavioral health services. In addition, the Clinical Supervisor provides individual, family, and group therapy to youth and families through a variety of therapeutic modalities in order to alleviate identified behavioral and/or substance use problems.
What you will need:
- Master’s degree in social work, mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy, or psychology with a current independent license to practice the profession in the state of Iowa is required.
- Experience providing individual mental health therapy is required.
- Knowledge and training in the identification and treatment of substance use disorders are also desirable.
- Two years of experience working with children and families is preferred as well as experience as a clinical supervisor with training and/or certification to provide clinical supervision to temporarily licensed clinicians is a plus.
What you will do:

Supervisory Responsibilities
- Provides leadership and consultation to help in the stabilization and growth of outpatient services.
- Maintains credentialed status to provide clinical supervision to temporarily licensed therapists in at least the Coordinator’s area of therapeutic training.
- Provide training to other departments or within the community as determined necessary.
- Therapist Responsibilities
- Provides therapeutic treatment in individual, group, and family sessions.
- Advocates for and secures other services, supports, and resources as needed for clients to address identified problem areas.
- Provides crisis intervention to youth and families as needed, including in emergency situations.
- Shares “on-call” rotation periodically to support after hours and on weekends.
- Maintains licensure to practice an identified profession in the state of Iowa
- Ability to travel to all YSS locations, if needed.
