YSS is looking for a welcoming, dependable, organized, Youth Rehousing Advocate to join our Family Life Center team! This role helps provide a low-barrier housing program, case management, and one-on-one supportive services for homeless youth in Ames. Between the ages of 18- 24, these individuals come from the streets or emergency shelter locations.

Additional responsibilities include:
- Pay month rent and perform monthly maintenance checks on each program apartment.
- Assess housing barriers to determine client needs for self-sufficiency and stability.
- Develop individualized case management plans, including intake interviews.
- Run Tenant Screening Reports for all participants.
- With participant input, set both short-term and long-term goals with each participant. Evaluate progress on goals at least monthly with participants.
- Mediate and advocate with landlords to secure and maintain housing.
- Assist participants in finding, securing, and moving into housing.
- Facilitate access to necessary resources, like the Free Store.
- Serve as a liaison between landlords, participants, and neighbors.
- Provide referrals to social service agencies and community programs.
- Help participants establish bank accounts and connect with legal aid.
- Transport clients as needed to meet their case plan goals.
- Meet with participants weekly for the first 30 days, then bi-monthly or as needed.
- Teach independent living skills, including household management and social integration.
- Connect participants with community activities and opportunities.
- Complete program participant progress notes continued assessments, continued stay reviews, and other required HUD paperwork in HMIS (ServicePoint) in a timely fashion (i.e HUD Rent Reasonableness, Income Verification, HQS Reports, and other HUD mandated paperwork).

What You Will Need
- Associate's degree in social work or related human services field with at least four years of direct youth work experience OR
- Bachelor's degree in social work or related human services field with two or more years of direct youth work experience
- At least 21 years old with a valid driver's license to meet requirements to drive agency vehicles.
Salary : $35,000
