SUMMARY
We are seeking to hire an experienced accountant to work as our Grants Controller. This role will serve as a team leader in the accounting department and ensuring the department creates accurate and timely financial records for the organization.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

- Prepares monthly grant billings for all assign grants.
- Prepares budget analysis and projections for cost-based grants and coordinates with program in meeting objectives for performance-based grants. Ensures that budget module is up to date and accurate.
- Responsible for the preparation and/or review of financial reports for submission to funding sources to ensure financial compliance with terms of the grant.
- Maintains complete and accurate grant files and ensure financial system has the most up to date information.
- Reconciles receivables and income earned from public and private sources.
- Conduct and oversees monthly budget review in order to effectively manage the financial activities of each grant to ensure that all activities fall within funder and agency guidelines.
- Reconciles and close grants on a timely basis.
- Responsible for the financial and account reconciliation including year-end audit work papers for YW properties.
- Trains program staff on proper coding of expenditures and ensure proper coding of expenses.
- Assists in the training and orientation of other office staff and interns.
- Reconciles monthly rent and security deposits for all properties.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
- This is a full time position working 40 hours per week. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- No travel is expected for this position.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Attention to detail and accuracy is important. Must become expert at self-review to find mistakes before sending work to manager.
- Communicate effectively with manager and program directors the status of grants and other critical information especially during month-end and year end closings.
- Mastering time management; strong ability to prioritize and multitask.
- The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is required.
- A minimum of 5-7 years accounting experience is required and at least 1 year of previous grant experience is preferred.
- Experience working in non-profit preferred.
