We are a new scratch kitchen, working to establish ourselves in the local dining scene.

Who is Z Specialty Food?

Z Specialty Food is a well-established family business in Woodland working in the exciting field of honey, mead, and local specialty food production and distribution.

The newest part of our growing business is our tasting room, The HIVE!

We offer over 30 varietal honeys as well as curating, procuring, and serving a selection of mead (honey wine) in our tasting room. We are passionately interested in local food systems, honey, mead, fermentation, and the people who dedicate their efforts to working in these fields!

We have opened a small restaurant to offer food that is just as intimate and thoughtful as the environment and products we create. We are in a unique position to build this restaurant from the ground up. If you have ever worked in or helped to open small restaurants, please let us know!

What We Expect

● Respectful and authentic communicator

● Familiarity with common kitchen terms and practices, including knife skills

● Desire to learn when confronted with unknowns

● Daily, weekly, monthly food prep, storage, and replenishment

● Patience

● Personal appreciation for food, plants and animals

● Plan to grow with us for at least one year

● Have a food handler’s certificate or willing to obtain one.

Compared to the tone many line cook ads take, this one will read a little softer, and that is intentional. Our mission is to build a team who communicates to each other in mutual respect, without toxicity, aggression, or ego. Together we can create a new kitchen with people who want to support and teach each other in their personal growth.
