This position will support the Company and the Legal Services Department by bringing focused attention to the safety and health of Zaxby’s team members and guests.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives direction from and reports directly to: Director of Risk Management

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Essential duties may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Partner with HR, Digital, and the Guest Experience Team to handle employee matters and guest complaints escalated to the Risk Team, including:
  • Food illness claims
  • Criminal Acts
  • Reputational Risk to the system
  • Partner with HR & Operations to investigate internal theft and fraudulent activity.
  • Reviewing surveillance footage and partnering with law enforcement after incidents involving internal (missing deposits) & external (burglary/robbery) theft
  • Assist with guest-related claims involving Credit Card issues/theft
  • Reviewing footage for suspicious WC/GL claims and working with our insurance carrier to ensure that proper action is taken
  • Assist the Director by analyzing reports using the Risk Management Information System (RMIS) to identify loss trends and provide safety recommendations to mitigate the company’s overall cost of risk.
  • Partner with District Managers on trends in specific locations to identify solutions to help prevent future claims of a similar nature
  • Oversee requests for surveillance footage to police officers and insurance companies when requested for 3rd-party incidents
  • Provide support to Company’s Crisis Communication teams
  • Active member of rotating weekly on-call schedule
  • Handling health and illness-related issues at Zax locations and Support Center
  • Partner with Corporate Wellness (Zero Hour Health) company to ensure that we take the proper precautions when illnesses (such as norovirus, salmonella, staph infections, etc.) are present in our Company locations
  • Prepare and organize discovery items for litigation matters.
  • Maintain the safety manual. Educate team members and management and ensure roles and responsibilities found in safety and security handbook are communicated.
  • Advise managers and conduct training on compliance with applicable codes, laws, and company standards during Management Basics class
  • Management Basics is a 2-hour course that all General Managers at Company locations must complete. This occurs 6 times per year and is led by Sr. Risk Manager and Loss Control Specialist
  • Conduct on-site visits to evaluate safety policies and procedures and effectiveness of those programs
  • Coordinate on-site visits with Insurance Carriers Loss Control department and Broker
  • Partner with Operations after visit to ensure that corrective action is taken on any items or actions that are not up to standard
  • Lead the internal Incident Response Team (IRT), conducts quarterly meetings and provide ongoing relevant training on campus and off campus; keep building safety and exit plans current
  • Design training for Safety programs related to but not limited to: Global Harmonization Act compliance, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Chemical training, safety compliance programs, proper floor cleaning, fire extinguisher training, driver safety related to delivery and catering, workplace violence, regarding proper use of equipment, adequate maintenance of equipment and required personal protective equipment (PPE). 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENT

Less than 25% required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of Restaurant Operations and OSHA standards 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Effective organizational skills and attention to detail

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE GUIDELINES

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Risk Management or related field; or experience in lieu of education requirement
  • Experience: 4-6 years of work experience in risk management or insurance company claims

Monday – Friday

8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

HYBRID WORK ELIGIBILITY

Hybrid work schedule - 3 days/week in office
