Position Overview
The Strategist, Media is a midlevel position on the kglobal Media Team, ideal for communications professionals with experience as a journalist, spokesperson, or as a media lead for another public relations agencies. You are relentlessly curious, tuned into current events and popular culture, and know how to transform an idea into story. You will support day-to-day development and pitching to both print and broadcast media for a variety of integrated campaigns for kglobal’s Media clients, while also providing guidance and structure to junior staffers. In this role, you will work with peers, senior leaders, and account managers to write op-eds, pitch stories and features, and secure placements for nonprofit organizations, Fortune 500 companies, institutions of higher learning, and many other clients.

Description
- Support media accounts by executing important tactical functions and providing sound media counsel to our clients
- Build and maintain relationships with reporters, editors, and influencers to drive results for clients
- Contribute to content development for a variety of deliverables, including writing and editing op-eds, blog posts, white papers, and longform articles
- Tactically execute day-to-day project functions with minimal daily oversight
- Constantly bring creative new ideas to the table to help clients break through the clutter and reach their target audiences
- Follow the daily news cycle to develop news hooks that will resonate with target media outlets
- Support, participate and add value to kglobal business development efforts through research, writing, and participating in pitches
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in the media/communications field
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Friendly and comfortable in a client-facing role
- Skilled in using a variety of communications tools and databases
- Experience providing support and guidance to junior team members
- Intellectually curious, creative, and a problem solver
- Expertise pitching to and/or experience working in national broadcast TV is a plus.
