kglobal, a Washington, DC-based strategic communications firm specializing in public affairs, public relations, marketing, branding, and crisis management, is looking for an energetic analyst to join our media assessment team at a high-profile federal agency. The analyst will be responsible for producing a morning report that is circulated daily to a worldwide audience, including the senior agency officials. The report is a compilation of open-source data and requires strong word-processing and research skills, as well as a keen interest in and understanding of news media.
NOTE: This is an overnight position. Hours are 10:00pm-6:00am Eastern Time, 5 days per week, not including Federal holidays. US citizenship and a SECRET clearance are required.
What You'll Do:
Collect - Identify and clip agency-relevant news articles. The quantity of clips collected per shift is contingent upon daily media activity. The average number collected is seventy (70) per weekday, and one-hundred (100) per weekend. News clips are primarily collected using Internet news searches, however, some clips will be passed to the contractor in advance via e-mail. Broadcast clips will be sent from internal sources, and will need to be checked for proper operation and transcription.
Publish - At the end of the shift, the analyst will combine all clips into a package. Clips will be sorted into groups and listed under applicable headers; the analyst will be responsible for listing each group of articles by importance under each header, based on their understanding of news of the day, issues of importance to the agency, and agency priorities.
Who You Are:
- Proven research and media analysis experience
- Strong writing and editing skills, with ability to distill complex information and to produce concise analyses and summaries of news topics
- Knowledge of traditional media monitoring tool/practices
- Must be able to work independently with little supervision
- Must be able to adapt to constantly changing news cycles
- Strong open-source research skills
- Must be reliable and able to meet firm daily deadlines
- Must have fast and reliable Internet connection at home workspace to guarantee uninterrupted daily product delivery to the client
- Experience working with the Federal Government, U.S. military, or familiarity with military terminology a plus
