What are the responsibilities and job description for the Refrigeration Specialist position at Zoetis?
This Refrigeration Specialist maintains, repairs and troubleshoots business operations objects which include and not limited to: Freeze dryers, Coolers, Freezers, Ultra low freezers, Chillers, HVAC units, Utilities equipment, Electrical systems, etc.
Refrigeration Technician – Incumbents with refrigeration experience, use of tools and equipment and a wide variety of practices and procedures. As experience and competence is gained, assignments become more varied and are performed with greater independence. This class is flexibly staffed with Refrigeration Technicians and incumbents may advance to the higher level after gaining the multi skills and experience which meet the qualifications for and demonstrating the ability to perform the work of the higher-level class.
Position Responsibilities
- Performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance activities depending upon area of assignment including performing basic trade activities.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities to freeze dryers, coolers, freezers, ultra-low freezers, chillers, and facilities infrastructure to increase machine up time.
- Performs troubleshooting and repair to freeze dryers, coolers, freezers, ultra-low freezers, chillers, and facilities infrastructure, among others, as applicable.
- Support the creation/modification of Preventive Maintenance Schedules for system controls, refrigeration systems and facilities infrastructure
- Provide support to capital projects
- Identify and implement object improvements
- Expertise to read parts manuals, assembly instructions, troubleshooting guides, hydraulic schematics, pneumatic schematics, and electrical schematics.
- Support, RFT, TPM strategies and other change processes assigned
- Performs all duties in a safe manner and keeps all employees aware of dangers in work area.
- Practices excellent housekeeping in work area.
- Performs accuracy verifications on objects to ensure they are capable of producing to required specifications
- Support set up process for production machinery
- Knowledge of the operation
- Concurrently document and track all refrigerant usage.
Education and Experience
Education
- Associate/Technical Degree in Refrigeration, Electricity, Climate Control or Electronics.
Experience
- 5 years of assignment-related maintenance experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed in the essential functions.
- Trade/ Technical License when applicable is required.
- Universal Recovery certification
Technical Skills
- Basic troubleshooting and diagnosing problems in refrigeration systems and ultra low refrigeration systems.
- Reading and understand blueprints, drawings, specifications and technical materials
- Determining solutions
- Making accurate arithmetic calculations.
- Expertise in maintenance on operating equipment, devices and tools
Proficient with diagnostic equipment
- Computer literate: Word/Excel
- Language: English: Read (Intermediate); Write and Talk (Basic)
Excellent troubleshooting, e.g., evaluating symptoms, and determining root causes
Physical Demands
- Must be able to walk or stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to reach above shoulder level, bend/stoop, kneel, push/pull, and handle/grip frequently.
- Must be comfortable working in varying temperatures
- Must be able to work scheduled 40 hours with the ability to work overtime as needed.
- Frequent lifting and carrying of 5 to 50 lbs.
- Regular reaching, bending, stooping, and twisting
- Repetitive motion and substantial movement of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
- Must be willing to work any shift
