The Sr Human Resources Generalist is the Human Resource Business Partner to the functional leaders and associates for the Zurn Elkay Flow Systems and Water Distribution sites located Erie, PA and the field sales team. The Senior HR Generalist will support and drive Zurn Elkay's core HR strategies designed to attract, develop, and retain talent within the organization in order to achieve business objectives and strategy.
Key areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to talent acquisition, employee relations, union relations, workforce planning, engagement, compliance, and building organizational capabilities. This position will be responsible for strategically managing the Human Resources function for ensuring alignment with Group, Division, and corporate goals and objectives.
This role is based in Erie, PA.
This position will support the following locations:
- Erie, PA - Pittsburgh Ave office
- Erie, PA - Raspberry St. operation
- Harborcreek, PA operation
- Field sales team
HR Business Partner
- Partner with HR leader, develops and implements short/long term HR initiatives in support of the business' strategic objectives.
- Applies a comprehensive knowledge of human resource disciplines, principles, and practices towards the completion of complex assignments/projects.
- Drive organizational development activities that align with Zurn Business Systems (ZBS).
- Responsible for all HR related initiatives at the site including but not limited to: coaching, leadership development, training, HR process deployment (performance ownership/succession planning, performance improvement plans, total associate engagement and organizational change, compensation planning, etc).
- Assist HR Leader in ensuring that Supervisors and Managers are provided with guidance and tools to effectively deal with associate performance related issues.
Labor Union Partnership
- Participates in the preparation for and negotiation of collective bargaining agreements.
- Manages grievance procedures to handle complaints that result from disputes with unionized employees over the collective bargaining agreement, work rules, and labor agreement interpretation.
- Advises management and supervisory staff on labor agreement interpretation, Authority policies, disciplinary matters, and related labor relations issues. Provides guidance to employees and union representatives regarding same.
- Reviews existing policies, procedures, work rules and labor agreement provisions to identify potential labor relations implications; recommends changes as appropriate.
- Assists in developing, implementing and revising work rules and disciplinary procedures governing bargaining unit employees.
- Assists legal staff in research and preparation for arbitration; oversees record retention of arbitration opinions and awards.
Total Associate Engagement
- Proactively promotes and maintains a positive work environment and drives total associate engagement
- Support and lead processes for business group such as community involvement and associate relations
- Monitors employee satisfaction and attrition levels and assists developing strategies and employee centered programs and activities to improve employee engagement and retention.
Employee Relations
- Acts as liaison between employees and management team. Counsels employees and maintains positive employee relations.
- Issues are recognized and addressed at early stages, with appropriate level of management intervention.
- Administer Attendance Program fairly and consistently and recommend discipline when appropriate.
Talent Acquisition
- Coordinate staffing and recruiting activities across the service centers for multiple functions partnering with the Talent Acquisition Specialist.
- Candidate sourcing and interviewing for non-exempt conducted in a cost effective and timely manner in collaboration with line management.
- Responsible for performing HR portions of New Associate Orientation and communicating New Associate information to other departments within the business unit.
Legal & Compliance
- Ensure compliance, and claim response in coordination with Legal for EEOC, FMLA, Code of Conduct, Discrimination, Harassment and other legal/policy issues.
- Stay current on state/federal employment laws and company policies. Share 'need to know' information with managers to help improve their supervisory effectiveness and to avoid problems.
- Adds value to administrative process by recommending policy enhancements and streamlining procedures.
- May deploy training to inform or assist employees/managers on job related activities, policies, or best practices.
- BA/BS degree in Human Resources, Communications, Business or closely related field required
- Successful candidate will have 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience as in generalist areas.
- Demonstrated experience managing HR processes and practices, aligning HR programs/structures with business needs, and the ability to work as a business partner with exceptionally strong communication, sound business judgment, negotiation, influencing, and presentation and leadership skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and business acumen also required.
