Established in 1991, AREA Title has conducted over 55,000 title searches in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. Thousands of commercial and residential title searches later, AREA Title has insured Wal-Mart, Home Depot, and Lowes projects, as well as dozens of 1031 Like-Kind Exchanges. Our specialization in complex commercial closings finds AREA Title personnel traveling the country to facilitate our customer's needs, including three days in Houston, Texas closing the then named Hotel Sofitel, in downtown Toledo. AREA Title has provided title insurance on many of downtown Toledo's largest buildings, including The Ohio Building, The HCR Manor Care Building and the former Owens Illinois Building at One Seagate. Our most recent activity (on that now famous building) was for $77,000,000.00. Other famous landmarks of the Toledo skyline include Three Seagate, Four Seagate and the original Toledo Trust Building on Summit Street. Recently we insured the new Ironhead Ship Building Facility as ordered by a local law firm that specializes in commercial real estate development. The original Jeep plant, once the largest manufacturing facility in Northwest Ohio, was the subject of one of our most complicated title searches. The Medical College of Ohio and the Goose Hill Prison Project also were insured by AREA Title. Other projects include an 85 acre mixed-use retail and office complex in Findlay, Ohio; part of the land on Glendale Avenue in Toledo, which used to be home to Plaskon Chemical and Allied Chemical, a notorious brownfield; and a subsidiary steel plant of Gentek, Inc. in Defiance, Ohio with two mortgages totaling $430,000,000.
