We are an FAA Repair station that has been located at the Chicago/Rockford Airport in Rockford Illinois since 1981 and have been in business since 1974. We have a dedicated 6550 square foot hangar facility with a complete electronics shop. We sell and service new and used avionics and autopilots from the major manufacturers. For a complete list of manufacturers we work with please see the "Dealerships" page. We work on all general aviation, experimental and warbird aircraft. The T-28 Trojan Warbird enjoys an ever-growing reputation for speed, durability and ease of operation like no other warbird available. T-28 owners are fanatical about their aircraft and would never dream of trusting their airframe and power plant to anyone else but the most caring and experienced hands they can find. The cockpit should not be different. We understand the exacting standards of aircraft owners and demand the same from ourselves and our staff. Sharing the tarmac with Heritage Aero, Aircraft Systems, Courtesy Aircraft and Superior Plane Aircraft Coatings has afforded us a unique opportunity to become an authority on Trojan systems and all variations of those systems. Our experience is unparalleled and ranges from minor radio squawks to total restorations and refurbishments. Our shop is one of the only facilities in the country capable of servicing original slaved compass systems, repairing original intercoms, and interfacing new solid-state equipment within the parameters of a true warbird. In our 20 years experience in working on all models of the T-28, we have also made it possible to add voice activation to the original mil-spec ICS - a task previously thought impossible. We possess the knowledge, experience, and facilities to make your aircraft project quick, economic, and carefree. After talking with Dave and Tony you'll understand why we have been as successsful as we have.

What Skills Does a person Need at Avionics Place?

At Avionics Place, specify the abilities and skills that a person needs in order to carry out the specified job duties. Each competency has five to ten behavioral assertions that can be observed, each with a corresponding performance level (from one to five) that is required for a particular job.

  1. Customer Service: Customer service is the provision of service to customers before, during and after a purchase. The perception of success of such interactions is dependent on employees "who can adjust themselves to the personality of the guest". Customer service concerns the priority an organization assigns to customer service relative to components such as product innovation and pricing. In this sense, an organization that values good customer service may spend more money in training employees than the average organization or may proactively interview customers for feedback. From the point of view of an overall sales process engineering effort, customer service plays an important role in an organization's ability to generate income and revenue. From that perspective, customer service should be included as part of an overall approach to systematic improvement. One good customer service experience can change the entire perception a customer holds towards the organization.
  2. Leadership: Knowledge of and ability to employ effective strategies that motivate and guide other members within our business to achieve optimum results.
  3. Coaching: Coaching is a form of development in which an experienced person, called a coach, supports a learner or client in achieving a specific personal or professional goal by providing training and guidance.
  4. Merchandising: In the broadest sense, merchandising is any practice which contributes to the sale of products to a retail consumer. At a retail in-store level, merchandising refers to the variety of products available for sale and the display of those products in such a way that it stimulates interest and entices customers to make a purchase. In the profession of merchandising you are either employed by the store in which you work, or by an independent distributor. As a professional merchandiser, in a retail setting, you will not only know your products(I.e. coffee, juice, soda, etc.) but you will gauge other “vendors” like products as you tend to your job. Working with the store and other merchandisers, shelf space is often given or taken as need be in some locations(for some young merchandisers this is known as “war”) In retail commerce, visual display merchandising means merchandise sales using product design, selection, packaging, pricing, and display that stimulates consumers to spend more. This includes disciplines and discounting, physical presentation of products and displays, and the decisions about which products should be presented to which customers at what time.
  5. CVS: Concurrent Versions System (CVS) is a program that lets a code developer save and retrieve different development versions of source code.
