Banks Glass was founded in 1961 when Vernon and Gloria Banks opened their business at what is now Sonora Rentals. In 1967 the business was moved to a warehouse in Soulsbyville. In 1974 a new location was established at Hwy 108 and Jenness Road. At approximately the same time Mark, Brent, Matt and Jon Banks started working part time and after school in the business. In 1978 construction was completed on our existing building and Banks Glass moved into their new facility. Two years later expansion was necessary for fabrication and contract division. So a new warehouse was built across the street from the existing office. In 2006, further expansion was necessary and a 17,500 square foot building was purchased and remodeled in Jamestown. The move to Jamestown was completed and Banks Glass is now, once again "under one roof". Banks Glass has served Northern California with quality products and service from this location ever since, while undergoing several expansions and remodels as necessary to provide additional room for an expanding family business. In 1991 Vernon Banks retired from the business and sold his interest to his sons. Over the years Banks Glass has evolved from the Mom & Pop type business that Vernon and Gloria started in 1961 to a major employer in the construction industry, in Tuolumne County. During peak construction times Banks Glass will employ 15-20 employees at its Jamestown location, another 10-15 at various commercial contract job sites. Even through this expansion the family-type business atmosphere has been kept in place. Over 50 years of experience you can bank on Chat with an expert and see how we can help.

  1. Photography: Photography is the art, application and practice of creating durable images by recording light or other electromagnetic radiation, either electronically by means of an image sensor, or chemically by means of a light-sensitive material such as photographic film. It is employed in many fields of science, manufacturing (e.g., photolithography), and business, as well as its more direct uses for art, film and video production, recreational purposes, hobby, and mass communication. Typically, a lens is used to focus the light reflected or emitted from objects into a real image on the light-sensitive surface inside a camera during a timed exposure. With an electronic image sensor, this produces an electrical charge at each pixel, which is electronically processed and stored in a digital image file for subsequent display or processing. The result with photographic emulsion is an invisible latent image, which is later chemically "developed" into a visible image, either negative or positive depending on the purpose of the photographic material and the method of processing. A negative image on film is traditionally used to photographically create a positive image on a paper base, known as a print, either by using an enlarger or by contact printing.
