Cessna is a neighborhood school which is an important part of a community that includes residential housing, restaurants, a library, various religious denominations and recreational and athletic facilities. Some of the programs at Cessna include all-day kindergarten. Other programs include Reading First Grant focusing on the 5 Big Components of Reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, comprehension and fluency; Reading is Fundamental (RIF); Book It; Science Kits; Block Scheduling; Family Activity Nights with hands-on activities to take home; Music programs; and a PC computer in every classroom that is Internet accessible. We now have a Computer Lab which is equipped with twenty-nine desktop PC that is also internet accessible. New to Cessna is our Mobile Lab equipped with twenty-four wireless internet laptops. The Mobile Lab is great for the teachers, they can bring technology into their classroom for another way of learning for the students. All classrooms have their own Smart Boards/Projector which is also a great source of technology and a learning tool for the students.
