Christmas Lumber Company was founded in 1926 by James David Christmas. He began business in Harriman, Tn. in the Roane Street location that is still used today. Mr. Christmas eventually sold the business to his son-in-law, John Harvey Smith. Mr. Smith expanded the business, purchasing several more lumber yards including the Knox County store to better serve a growing customer base. In 1979, Mr. Smith added a truss and door manufacturing division. The Company was forced to face a large obstacle when a fire destroyed the entire Harriman yard on May 12, 2000. The yard was quickly rebuilt and enhanced to what exists today. Presently, Theron Cleveland manages the Knoxville store and his son, Tee Cleveland has taken over leadership of the Harriman location, including the manufacturing division. Tee is the great-grandson of our founder, James David Christmas and the 4th generation to work for Christmas Lumber Company. Christmas Lumber Company has a long history of giving back to the community. Through generous donations, they established a scholarship at Roane State Community College. They also donated land for a public park in Harriman. Christmas Lumber Company is still a locally owned family business and is proud of its history of excellence in customer service. We offer high quality products at competitive prices.

Photography: Photography is the art, application and practice of creating durable images by recording light or other electromagnetic radiation, either electronically by means of an image sensor, or chemically by means of a light-sensitive material such as photographic film. It is employed in many fields of science, manufacturing (e.g., photolithography), and business, as well as its more direct uses for art, film and video production, recreational purposes, hobby, and mass communication. Typically, a lens is used to focus the light reflected or emitted from objects into a real image on the light-sensitive surface inside a camera during a timed exposure. With an electronic image sensor, this produces an electrical charge at each pixel, which is electronically processed and stored in a digital image file for subsequent display or processing. The result with photographic emulsion is an invisible latent image, which is later chemically "developed" into a visible image, either negative or positive depending on the purpose of the photographic material and the method of processing. A negative image on film is traditionally used to photographically create a positive image on a paper base, known as a print, either by using an enlarger or by contact printing.
