Its primary function is to raise monies through sales in its Thrift Shop and to donate these monies to worthy causes within Napa County. Since its incorporation, over $11,000,000.00 has been returned to the Napa community. The organization had its inception in 1941. Called Napa Chapter of the British War Relief its members sewed and prepared "Bundles for Britian". Surplus donations were sold through a salvage store on Main Street. When the war ended, the group moved to Fourth Street and changed its name to Community Projects shifting from aiding soldiers to supporting schools, clubs, and social services in its own community. In January 1956, the 715 Franklin Street building was purchased. An addition to the Thrift Shop, now called the "annex," was completed in 1980 and opened for business in January, 1981.
