Confident Kids is a national organization that has been promoting Christian support-groups for children and families since 1990. The program was actually written a number of years earlier by Linda Kondracki Sibley, a children's pastor in Southern California. For some time, Linda had been searching for a resource that would address the needs of the increasing number of children in her church and community who were struggling with highly stressful issues such as divorce, stepfamilies, alcoholic parents, and a host of other issues. Finding no such resource available, she began to write one of her own. As the program was being developed, word of its existence spread and soon Linda had numerous families on a waiting list, eager to be involved. The end result was that she left her church position and began a faith endeavor to make the Confident Kids program available to churches across the country. Today, from our headquarters on the central coast of California, our mission is to equip Christian leaders to effectively minister to today's hurting kids and struggling parents by training them to start and run a Confident Kids program through their own church or other Christian organization. Linda K. Sibley holds a Master of Arts Degree in Christian Education and Pastoral Care from Bethel Theological Seminary (St. Paul, MN), and has served more than 30 years ministering to children and families through churches in both Minnesota and California and through the ministry of Confident Kids. She has been a contributing editor for David C. Cook Publishing Company, writing numerous pieces of Sunday School curriculum and VBS programs. She has written Sunday School curriculum for Standard Publishing, which has also published four units of the Confident Kids curriculum. Linda has also been a contributing editor to Christian Parenting Today magazine, and is the author of the Guides for Growing A Healthy Family Book Series, published by Baker Book House. David L. Sibley joined the organization in 1997 when he and Linda were ...
