DYF, DYF, is an independent non-profit organization located in Concord, California. The DYF serves over 1800 children, teens, families, staff and volunteers, affected by type-1 diabetes a year. Located in California, our mission is "to improve the quality of life for children, teens and families affected by diabetes. The Foundation provides education and recreation within a supportive community, encouraging personal growth, knowledge and independence." We have been operating programs for persons affected by diabetes for over 74 years, not long after the discovery of insulin. Each year the DYF touches the lives of hundreds of people affected by diabetes by offering one-day, weekend, and summer-long education programs in California. Our focus is to provide top-notch diabetes education in a supportive community that emphasizes recreation, fun, adventure, friendship, understanding and encouragement. Our programs range from everything from Bowling Parties, Skating Parties and Sleepovers, to Retreat Weekends, Surf Days, Ski Trips, School Personnel Conferences, and more. We also run our popular eleven-week summer camp program, Bearskin Meadow Camp with sessions specifically for children, teens and families.
