Founded in 1972 and incorporated in 1974, embrella, formerly Foster and Adoptive Family Services, serves foster, adoptive and kinship parents in communities throughout NJ. Our Mission is to provide advocacy and enriching programs and services to empower families and youth to thrive. We help foster children achieve their dreams and wishes. Children are placed in foster care because they have experienced abuse or neglect and it is unsafe for them to remain at home. They are innocent victims of unfortunate circumstances. But they are not alone. Resource parents provide the care and support needed at a critical time in the lives of these children which is why we believe in supporting resource parents as they help foster children overcome difficult beginnings to lead happy and productive lives. We believe that children in foster care are the communitys children, with the same hopes and dreams as all children. We provide services, support and training opportunities for foster, adoptive and kinship families, and others having the responsibility for and/or the interest in the well-being of children. We help foster children by offering programs to support them from childhood to young adulthood. Our vision is a future where all youth and families thrive in safe, stable and nurturing homes.
