With the company motto "a life in vintage" we aspire to keep the treasures of yesterday with us today in an updated and stylish fashion. Findings was born in 2007 after owner and designer Joanna Madden took a jewelry making class in New York City for fun. After taking home what she learned from this experience Joanna began to play around with creating her own bracelets. This lead her to design the "Original" charm bracelet, the piece that is the foundation of a jewelry line which has since amassed to over 100 styles of necklaces, bracelets, earrings etc. The idea to utilize vintage components to make modern jewelry began with Joanna's lifetime of love for collecting antiques, a trait she acquired from her mother Kathe who owned vintage shops for many years. With a degree in fashion merchandising and a love for all things vintage it only seems natural that Joanna would start a career in designing jewelry for the modern woman who loves the story of things from the past. Each piece of Findings jewelry is handmade in our New Jersey based studio, and utilizes a wide range of vintage components. From keys, brooches, coins, pearls, buttons, and chain everything we create is one-of-a-kind in it's own right. We use some new chains and clasps to ensure the quality of each jewelry item is top notch, but the statement elements are always truly vintage. In the years Findings has been in business, we have traveled the country to retail and wholesale tradeshows, such as AmericasMart in Atlanta and the Country Living Fairs in NY, OH, GA, TN and more (for a complete list of shows and dates we are attending this year see On the Road). After ten years of growth, travel, and experience in business we took a new opportunity to open our first brick and mortar and studio space in Manasquan, New Jersey.

What Skills Does a person Need at Findings?

At Findings, specify the abilities and skills that a person needs in order to carry out the specified job duties. Each competency has five to ten behavioral assertions that can be observed, each with a corresponding performance level (from one to five) that is required for a particular job.

  1. Customer Service: Customer service is the provision of service to customers before, during and after a purchase. The perception of success of such interactions is dependent on employees "who can adjust themselves to the personality of the guest". Customer service concerns the priority an organization assigns to customer service relative to components such as product innovation and pricing. In this sense, an organization that values good customer service may spend more money in training employees than the average organization or may proactively interview customers for feedback. From the point of view of an overall sales process engineering effort, customer service plays an important role in an organization's ability to generate income and revenue. From that perspective, customer service should be included as part of an overall approach to systematic improvement. One good customer service experience can change the entire perception a customer holds towards the organization.
  2. Merchandising: In the broadest sense, merchandising is any practice which contributes to the sale of products to a retail consumer. At a retail in-store level, merchandising refers to the variety of products available for sale and the display of those products in such a way that it stimulates interest and entices customers to make a purchase. In the profession of merchandising you are either employed by the store in which you work, or by an independent distributor. As a professional merchandiser, in a retail setting, you will not only know your products(I.e. coffee, juice, soda, etc.) but you will gauge other “vendors” like products as you tend to your job. Working with the store and other merchandisers, shelf space is often given or taken as need be in some locations(for some young merchandisers this is known as “war”) In retail commerce, visual display merchandising means merchandise sales using product design, selection, packaging, pricing, and display that stimulates consumers to spend more. This includes disciplines and discounting, physical presentation of products and displays, and the decisions about which products should be presented to which customers at what time.
  3. Plumbing: Plumbing is any system that conveys fluids for a wide range of applications. Plumbing uses pipes, valves, plumbing fixtures, tanks, and other apparatuses to convey fluids. Heating and cooling (HVAC), waste removal, and potable water delivery are among the most common uses for plumbing, but it is not limited to these applications. The word derives from the Latin for lead, plumbum, as the first effective pipes used in the Roman era were lead pipes. In the developed world, plumbing infrastructure is critical to public health and sanitation. Boilermakers and pipefitters are not plumbers although they work with piping as part of their trade and their work can include some plumbing.
  4. product knowledge: Product knowledge is the ability to communicate information and answer questions about a product or service. It is considered an important knowledge area for any role that puts you in front of customers, investors or the media.
  5. Credit Card: A credit card is a type of credit facility, provided by banks that allow customers to borrow funds within a pre-approved credit limit.
