Hanna Institute has hosted experts and leaders including Jessica Jackson Sloan, Founder of #cut50, Dr. Nadine Burke Harris, Californias first Surgeon General, and most recently, social equity activist and leader, Dolores Huerta. The Institutes commitment to networking events helps build community understanding around trauma and trauma-informed care, and develops deep connection among individuals, organizations and elected officials. The Institute recently received a Tipping Point Emergency Relief Fund grant for $650,000 to help those impacted by the 2017 North Bay fires. With the funding, the Institute brought training and support to more than 100 agencies, including schools, local governments, agencies and non-profits, who in turn were able to help their stakeholders with recovery. In 2019, Hanna Institute, St. Joseph Health and On The Move were awarded a $234,783 grant to support the development of Resilient Community Schools. By incorporating evidence-based practices and deep school community knowledge, this model will build school capacity to support the social and emotional well-being of students, teachers and families. Since 2018, the Institute has received $40,000 in grant support from the Sonoma County Vintners Foundation and Kaiser Permanente to support the linguistic and cultural translation of trainings, workshops and materials covering Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES), trauma and toxic stress. With their support, weve delivered trainings in Spanish across Sonoma County and partnered with Latino/x-serving agencies to continuously evolve our work and our knowledge.
