The Argonne Tandem Linear Accelerator System (ATLAS) at Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) is seeking an experienced Accelerator Technician. ATLAS is the worlds first heavy ion superconducting linear accelerator, and for over three decades has operated as a user facility to explore the frontiers of nuclear physics and applications. The accelerator delivers high energy ions via a combination of DC and RF electromagnetic fields. The Technicians responsibilities include + installation and maintenance of beamline mechanical systems + troubleshooting of accelerator diagnostic devices Faraday cups, wire scanners, etc. + support for water and electric utilities + maintaining and documenting equipment in support of the ATLAS accelerator operations. This position requires experience with mechanical assembly and fabrication, and the ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks, communicate effectively, and provide documentation to system non-experts.
